Centre caps - colours and options?

Need some advice on centre caps please.

I've just had a set of 200 Cup wheels refurbed in Satin Black, the centre caps that where with those wheels had been painted about 4 times prior and have seen better days.

I'm pretty sure I've seen some Gloss Black caps with an R.S logo - these would go pretty well I think. However, arn't the 197/200 Speedlines Satin Black from the factory? -Does that mean I can get a Satin Black cap direct from Renault??

Cheers,

I looked those ones but you have to pay two lots of shipping for each pair. Plus their comms is absolutely horrendous and it takes forever to get an answer to any questions. In almost tempted to just stump up the £80 for them from Renault.

Or you can remove the standard ones pop out the diamond and spray the back satin as my pal has done, that looks good too.

Yeah I saw those on eBay, seen that delivery was £6 each! Lewis did you ask them then if they would combine postage - assume answer was no and took for ever to hear??

The centres that were on the efrub wheels have not come out well, I could maybe spend a bit of time trying to better them but I'm a lazy **** who would rather pay for new ones than have to do that! The centres are all broken and glued on, the caps had evidence of at least 3 colours and a plasti dip on them so they need replacing. Annoyingly it means 'bargain' alloys are not a bargain unless they have decent centres.

It's Renault, of course they're not!
They put grey wheel caps in the black speedlines, even though the megane has black ones as standard!

Yeah I started to search for some press release shots of the 200 and noticed the centres were grey! shocking! However it seems people just fit the Gloss ones from the Meg straight to them - they look ok in the flesh? My refurbs are the same as the Speedlines so I think going to Renault bent over is the only option?

Cheers guys

I have a set of black speedlines with RS centre caps up for sale soon, pretty much perfect condition :001_rolleyes:

Really? I had them before I bought the speedlines and there wasn't a great deal of difference iirc.

No ill keep the centres, just trying to make a cheeky sale :tongueout:

Oh it's only about 0.5kg (weights are on forum somewhere can't be bothered to look). But it's my justification for not having to buy them.

So the question is, do gloss black caps look good on satin speedlines?

So you're selling just four black speedlines with or without the centre caps dude?

Im selling four wheels with four centre caps...

No Rich, get them satin! You can remove the diamonds, so just rough them up with some high grit paper and respray them satin?

My centre caps are ****ed, they've been painted now 4 times, they are satin now but they look like they have reacted to the paint or glue or something. I'm not paying £80 to get gloss caps and then respray them satin!! - Besides that would be effort.

Might just get them and see. The wheels are a bit glossier than I wanted so I think it'll be fine. Besides given I clean my car bi-anually it's all a mute point anyway

This is a picture of a gloss black RS wheel centre on a satin black speedline, it's my wifes 200 cup. I fitted the wheel centres and gloss black wheel nut covers and it looks fine.

Looks good, fair amount of noise in the pic but from I can tell I don't think you'd be able to spot a difference in the flesh.

I think I might go to Halfords though and pic up some satin paint, primer and filler. Pop the Renault diamonds off and then fill/sand the cap smooth. That way it will provide a 95% new surface so key the whole lot of and paint. I can then apply a decal of the Renault badge - that's unsprung weight saving right there!!
