Catback flat spot....

I know it's a topic that comes up time and time again, but I just wanted clarification on one thing (as the search didn't bring it up)....

Is it only a decat that exaggerates the flat spot?

Or

Will you feel it with just a catback?

As my exhaust is knocking like feck and doing my head in, so just going to buy the miltek....but just wanted to know cheers

It depends on the centre pipe too. Complete removal of the centre silencer will also create and increase the flatspot even if the Cat remains in place.

yeah ive had my cat back on for 2 days now and got caught in 6th at 1500/2000 revs and i thought it was a bigger spot than when my standard system was on.

However the noise makes more than up for it :w00t:

I think sometimes too much is made of the flatspot issue, these engines aren't built to perform south of 4,500RPM.

I had a mental flatspot issue today when I left work today for the 1st time in a year with my akrapovic evolution system

Spluttered a bit at 2k and then a monumental back fire

About 3 times louder than the firecracker bang I get at upshift.

That's the only time I have ever witnessed a flatspot in my car with my akrapovic and that has no main cat

So basically what we are getting at is yes it does increase the flat spot... But drop the box and boot it and the smile will soon appear!!
