Belts Changed

Just had the belts, dephaser, waterpump etc replaced this week at an independant specialist in Manchester
Picked it up on thursday
Had a look at the engine today Engine Coolant Reservoir empty.
Car did not overheat on the way back
Any surgestions
Going to get some Renault coolant saturday and top it up, hope its just air.

Could there have been air in the system and the drive back has worked it all out, what was in the reservoir has filled in where the air was, possibly.

When my belts were changed they did say keep an eye on the coolant. Don't drive it until you've topped it up.

I hope its some air
No one said to keep an eye on the level before i picked it up and drope home.
Maybe a check on a test drive before i picked it up (and paid) would have been nice.
going to buy 5ltrs on saturday, that should be more than enough for an air block.

Just a useless piece of information......but the Renault workshop Manual says to run the car and let the fan kick in three times as part of the venting process. I only let it warm up and check the bleeding on the thermostat housing and the vent on the heater hose as it goes through the bulkhead.
Be worth opening up the vent screw on the heater hose after topping up.

back of the engine, above the exhaust manifold you will see two black rubber hoses disappearing into the back bulkhead. On one of them you will see a plastic flat bladed screw, unscrew this to check that you have water running out.

How much coolant fluid they did put there? 5ltrs? Or less
As i know the car require 5 ltrs after full drain

They said it was full
Bought 5 ltrs on Saturday, topped up about 3/4 ltr
Done about 150 miles
Topped up again about 1/2 ltr
Lots of fluid on the ground around the drivers side
Suspect a Water pump problem
Called out the AA
The AA engineer had a look around saw the drips
Put the system under pressure (quite a bit) said eventually he saw drops from the Water pump
He took it to the Garage
Garage have rang back to say its been on the ramps for 2 hours and their are no problems

Just sitting their nothing appears to leak
The AA man had the cap of and his own on where he can increase the pressure
When he did the leak appeared at the water pump.
When i have been driving about that when it leaks
Leaving a big puddle under the car, the subframe and down the lower arms on the drivers wheel

So there is a problem then but they aren't admitting it ?

well the coolant is going somewhere!!!

it was ok BEFORE the belts/pump changed so by common denomination its an issue arisen after the work completed...surely?
