Hi folks I'm getting slightly worried about the car. Lately its been zero or -2 outside. When I start the car its silent however when I rev to around 1,300 there is a high pitch squeel which does not sound healthy. This continues to about 1,900 rpm and then disappears (either becuase I cant hear it or its fully disappeared). When I come off the accelerator I can hear it as it passes from 1,900 to 1,300.. now I though it might be an air leak but i'm assuming its the belts? Is this normal? I'm worried because the car is at 62,000 miles and is due its cam belt change in 6 months time.. are there any reports of these letting go early? Should I get it checked or is it OK to leave it until replacement of the cam belt?
