Anybody got any greese and a shoehorn?

We use Detroit Diesel engines at my work. Currently in charge of maintaining three 14L 600Hp Straight six engines up in Caithness.

impressive :bounce:

wonder if the clio gearbox will handle that extra bit of torque

I dislike this a lot. Typical American attitude of throwing more power into the mix.

3 V8s sharing a common crank, great. Waste of money.

I bet that Gromb would still get 30.2MPG out of it too................. ;/

The ones up here drive the hydraulics for a drilling rig.

When they are drilling and being worked hard they use something like a thousand litres of diesel between them per 12 hour shift!

I think they are putting out something like 2500 Nm per engine but I will have to look into that.

I could beat 30.2 its a dissseeesssaaalll Paul!

Typical Yanks its impressive to look at but I am sure the Europeans could get the same amount of horsepower from a LOT smaller unit!

Also we wouldn't boast about it like they seem to do, with everything they come up with!

I was once told a story when I first started out in Engineering that the Yanks sent over a drill bit to us, showing off how small it was, but we sent it back with a hole in it! I am not sure when this came from but it sounds about right!
