Advice & Process..

Hi all,

After buying my Meg, I have invested in a few bits and pieces which I hope shall protect the paint and give it a killer, mirror finish shine..

I've recently bought;

Gtechnique Silo Seal
Auto Finesse Avalanche
Meguairs Swirl Remover
Meguairs Hot Rims Wheel Cleaner
Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo
x2 Wheel Detailing Brushes
A hose detergent attachment (for the Auto Finnese Avalanche) - didn't want to fork out for an expensive Karcher and a few friends use these on a garden hose well enough..
Meguiars Lambs Wool Mitt
3M Tyre Restorer
CarPro Tar X
Meguairs Microfibre drying towel
Bucket grit guard

Many £££ later..

I always used to think I cleaned my car/s in a safe way until chatting to a detailer recently, given the above products.. what process would you guys go through?

Please correct me if wrong but I was planning too;

1. Snow foam car down to loosen dirt, leave for a few minutes and hose off.

2. Wash car down using two bucket method by hand with lambswool mit and Meguiars Gold Class shampoo, hose off again.

3. Remove wheels and apply Meguiars Hot Rims to wheels, leave to run and hose off. Also was thinking of freeing up some brake dust on the calipers and doing these? I was also planning on using the brushes to get to any of the hard to reach bits where a mitt wouldn't get too.

4. Dry down car using microfibre towel

5. Polish car using microfibre cloths and Meguiars Swirl Remover (this also leaves a nice shine as I've used it before)

6. Seal wheels and body with Gtechnique Silo Seal

7. Apply tyre dressing

Anyone got any advice, or recommendations?

When doing a full detail the process i follow is

Rinse the car
Apply a grime and bug remover
Wash off
Wheels
Wash with shampoo 2BM
Dry
Iron x
Tar remover
Clay bar
Wash car again to get rid off all the lub
Polish
Plastics
Wax

This may be different to your as i do not use a snow foam and have a da polisher

What i do is,

snow foam, soak and rinse
hand wash, 2 bucket
rinse
fallout remover wheels included
rinse
clay-bar
wheel clean
hand wash again
rinse
dry body
polish, da or hand depending on mood
glass clean and polish
plastic trims
wax
tyre dressing

I would use a application pad for the swirl remover, much easier than usin a cloth and probably better results imo, Ideally u want to clay the body before u polish to save ur self causing more swirls or scratches

Pretty good methods there guys.

if you want to take the pre-wash further, spray on a diluted citrus APC and rinse off before snow foam stage.
Just shifts a bit more grit making snow foam more effective. Citrus is a highly effective degreaser.

I just:

Pressure wash,
Bug and Tar Remover for a couple of minutes,
Microfibre cloth all over the car,
Pressure wash again,
Apply Waxy Soap to the whole car through the pressure washer,
Leave for 5 minutes,
Pressure Wash off.

Jobs a goodun. If it's a really nice day I'll turtle wax the whole car by hand.
