5 Year Service cost approximation + advice.

My car hasn't been used for a year so it's missed it's 4 year service and it's due the 5 year service.

I'm also getting an exhaust and decat fitted along with projector head lights.

Would you advise I specify that I want the following in the service?

Aux belt
timing belt
Spark plugs
Coolant
Brake fluid

And what about the water pump?

Anything else ?

Water pump is a good idea to do at the same time as the timing belt yes.

Your probaly looking at £400-£500 in parts alone there. Then add labour.


Cambelt is 5 years or 72k
Spark Plugs are 36k (no time limit)
Fuel filter is 144k (it's part of the pump)
Air filter 2 years or 24k
Coolant & brake fluid is 4 years or 72k

That's not what it states in my warranty and maintenance booklet. Believe later 197's and 200's are six years for belt etc.

Your correct in saying a 200 is 6 years, that was quoted from a 197 post.

Thanks for the replies, that's saved me some money if I've got another year for the timing belt and water pump.

I'll a have to check the service book, I'll probably get the rest done for peace of mind

It is also correct for a later 197. Mine is 2009 197 cup.

If I had an 09 197 I wouldn't risk it, nor would I risk it for a 200.
