200 transmission noise

whilst this noise does appear to be "normal" the amount of peolpe who have had gearbox's replaced on here is very worrying.

it is indeed and seems to be "ignored" by ruk even on their forum....

The gearbox for me is the major weak point in the car. Its a shame we got Renaults gearbox offering in the Clio and not the Nissan built gearbox that the Megane got. For me the "quirks" being:

- The transmission noise as described when coasting off the throttle
- The chattering noise when you lift off at high RPM to change gear

Both issues and both coming from what we assume is the same place, the gearbox.

they all do it mate seriously. i notced it more on the 200 box than the 197 though

Mine does it when the oils got hot (thinnner) during a good drive.

Thing is now part of me will always want to baby the car for fear of box problems.

Not left me with a great feeling at the moment.

my 08 plate 197 does this and my old 172 also did it but alot louder, probably less sound padding on the 172

Reviving an old thread. Does changing to a 75w90 solve this problem? Anyone tried that?

Btw currently using Redline MTL residing in hot average 32 degree country.
