Suggestions for a clio 197 suspension upgrade

Yiannis197, is that because you're looking for second-hand sets people have removed and there are none about? Or you can't find the 200 non-Cup set up because Renault and their OEM after-market suppliers no longer stock/can get the 200 non-Cup springs and dampers? I was truly dismayed by the...

    Problem changing gear

I think it is possible to bleed the clutch circuit. It is integral to the braking circuit on a 200 and when the brake fluid changed many garages/home mechanics neglect to flush the clutch circuit. So some cars will have fluid in the clutch circuit as old as the vehicle. Any Renault specialist...

    Liquid Yellow 200

Great looking clean example. Very similar spec to mine, also 2012, but in Pearl White with a black roof, without the side skirts and standard cup suspension. Enjoy it. Did you ever get to the bottom of the oil use? Or is it still drinking 0.5L per 1000 miles?

    Cup Racer Speedline tyre size

I was thinking about replacing my 7.5J's with the Cup Racer 8J. However, in the past on other cars (S1 Peugeot 106 Rallye) I've experienced rear wheel bearings going when using a 6J rather than standard 5.5J, which then bent the rear beam. I know Clio's don't have the same type of suspension...

    Removing Rear View Mirror

Thanks. Yes, it's an original windscreen. It has Renault branding and the airbag symbol on the N/S lower corner. I'll see what a windscreen repair place might have in the way of sticky pads. This morning I prised/slid the metal bracket/pad off the mirror arm. It seems when removing the arm...

    Removing Rear View Mirror

Awesome. Thanks for this. The mystery solved. So it's clear that there is a metal bracket/pad that's fixed to the windscreen by sticky strips (supposedly permanently), then the metal mirror arms slots onto that, then the plastic shrouding clips around the metal arm. Looking at what I have in...

    Removing Rear View Mirror

Pleasure. So much easier to tell how the plastic comes apart, and therefore how you'd remove shrouding in-situ, when the whole thing is off the windscreen. May as well share the knowledge. As for taking the entire mirror off the screen that's a heat gun on the metal under the plastic shroud to...

    Removing Rear View Mirror

The entire metal bracket - which is stuck to the windscreen by two tiny pads - has come away from the windscreen. The plastic shrouding was still attached to it. I have now taken the plastic shrouding off the metal bracket. Which would correspond to you mentioning that the plastic housing...

    Removing Rear View Mirror

It's certainly not supposed to slide toward the dash on my 2012 FF200. The entire housing is simply held on by sticky pads. Which the glue has now failed on...there are no clips or anything. The unit comes apart into two pieces once it's off, so perhaps that's why you though it would slide...

Rear View Mirror and sensor housing loose

Same for me. Returned to it today and it was swinging around hanging by the electrical connectors. First I thought the thing might have been attached by magnets, given the metal box element of the housing behind the plastic casing, however soon realised that the pads on the windscreen are just...

200: Looking for a specialist: East Sussex or London

Mike at Rentech in Portsmouth. I don't know how he'd be fixed for creating a fast road / track set up as he doesn't sell parts, but he'd be fine to fit things. All the rest he'd be perfect for. You'd be better researching castor and camber, tracking set ups on this forum then apply one at a...

VPower Loving Rodent. Fire & Asphyxiation

A help request please. I had a bit of a problem with my Clio III 200 yesterday. It seems to have been attacked by an animal. Whatever it was chewed though the hinge holding the screen wash lid on, as it had vanished when I lifted the bonnet, no drama; but the damn thing also nibbled at the fuel...

    Gearbox issue

Pleasure. The below also makes good reading. I forgot to link it. Post #5 has a good bit from TB Rich. It reinforces that NFP seems to be the way to go. http://www.clio197.net/threads/oil.50010/

    Gearbox issue

I'd start with changing the clutch/brake fluid. You may have got it near to boiling point on track. Getting it near to boiling may affect the clutch slave and engaging gear. Then change the gearbox oil for Elf NFP, not the old NFJ it came supplied with from factory. Not that I have the symptoms...

    Clio 200 Engine Oil Capacity

OK, so it's because you're cautious. Your mechanic is completely correct, too much is a problem. Windage (look it up), blowing seals and killing the catalyst to start with. Filling to max fine and I prefer as there is as much of the good stuff floating around as possible.

    Clio 200 Engine Oil Capacity

Any particular reason you don't fill it to the max line?

    Clio 200 Engine Oil Capacity

Sounds like you could pour in another 200ml on top of the 5 litres if halfway between min and max. At least.

    Clio 200 Engine Oil Capacity

Does the 5 litres take it to the top of the dipstick? If you top up do you remember by how much? 200ml? More? Less?
