I think that's where I got mine too, actually :-) It's the "Super Clamp with Ball and Socket Head" on this page.

I use a Manfrotto Super Clamp with a ball head fitted. You'll need something solid to clamp it to (rollcages are perfect), but it's really for holding studio lights onto rigging so it's rated for 15kg and is absolutely rock solid even with a big SLR on.

It depends how much you want to spend, but the GoPro cameras are excellent. Since they've released the HD Hero 2 the original HD Hero has come down in price, but you're still looking at about £160, I think. The quality is great though, and they have mounts for just about anywhere.

If you're used to rFactor then no, it's certainly not a sim, but it's about as realistic as you can get on a console and the dynamics work well for playing it with a pad.

In terms of SLRs, I'd personally look at a slightly older second hand one. For £380 you could get a used Canon 40D with kit lens. The difference in build quality is the main thing, the 1100D feels like a cheap toy in comparison, and certain parts like the shutter are built to a lower price...

Do you have a budget or any other requirements? Eg, do you mind it being a "big" SLR or do you want a decent compact or crossover? Are there any particular types of shots you'll be taking?

FF with Cup Pack and Recaros; the perfect spec IMO :) My camera's a Canon 7D and that series of shots was all using a Sigma 30mm f/1.4 lens.
