Just had another look today. Unfortunately the screwdriver trick didn't really get me anywhere. Tried sticking my head in the arch while a friend pumped the brakes. I'm 90% sure the clicking is coming from either the piston or the join on the handbrake mechanism, not the slide pins or pads...

Did the torques to about 200Nm. Anyway of easily testing if its the pins apart from getting a new caliper?

Is that a fault with the pad itself or just my installation? I've had the pads in and out about 3 times and they have kept on clicking so not sure it's my installation?

Yep only that caliper clicking. Thought it might be the pins but it seemed to slide easily by hand. If it was play wouldn't it click when the calipers clamp quickly? Even if you go really slow on the pedal, as long as you put some force on it it will click...

Ok so tried to narrow it down a little bit more but not really got anywhere. Replaced the little spring clips which sit in the caliper and house the pads...

So just got back from the body shop. Unfortunately looks like half the car has been resprayed and I had no idea. The bloke took one look at it and said it wasn't original. Said he could see filler lines on the paint. Got him to do thickness test anyway and the tailgate, bumper n/s door and...

So need to give my front calipers a good clean soonish as they are starting to squeak while im driving along due to sticking. I'm almost 100% sure my current pins are jammed in there nice and tight, plus I want to replace them anyway with new ones. But which pins to get? Seen the Mintex...

Did they give a reason for rejecting you?

Basically you're just better off getting a new sensor... Well that sucks.

So car is going into a Renault garage early next week to have the paint checked. Fingers crossed...
