Lowered the subframe, removed the manifold and welded it. Not a permanent fix, but was fine for the 12 months until we sold Sean the car!!

While you have the leaf screen of and scuttle exposed, it's worth checking that the drains are clear. If they block, the scuttle fills with water, causes your wiper mechanism to corrode and seize and if water gets in the heater opening, it can soak the pollen filter and cause the motor resistor...

Or, put thick rubber around the shaft, it will grip better than cloth. Think I slackened the nut whilst it was still in the car. Air gun or similar may help if you can borrow one.

I fitted a nissens condenser to my 197, had no issues. Got it gassed by Kwik fit for £50 as they're easy to go back to if there's any issues.

The lock assy isn't the most reliable. If you do order one, make sure it's for a 3 door not a 5 door

Changing the cam belt on my 197. Taken the water pump off and it looks like there was a little silicon on the threads of 2 bolts. Is this a precautionary measure? Any idea what the torque figure is? Main online manual covers sod all on the 2.0 engine. Thanks

I'm sure I've read about this somewhere! Has anybody replaced the rubber in the Diamond on the tailgate? Ours looks like it has melted! This is the button that locks the car. Ian.
