LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Well you can never just replace like for like though, can you?...always gotta improve ;) Loaded the car up on a transporter tonight and I'll be taking it to the garage tomorrow morning to have the engine removed finally. I may take the head off and have a nosy, or I may just end up taking it...

With a big f'off stick you can ;) New cars nice chap, I like the squat look they have personally - not think about a BRZ/86 though?

    Akrapovic problem..

Mine were a bit loose too, used some Tiger Seal from the back and held them snug with tape whilst it dried. Probably a good idea anyway given the cost no doubt to replace!

:tearsofjoy: I think it's because I'm just a big child and things like dry-sumping have a tendency to make me smile bigger than flashy cars do! But I would appreciate the car giving me a break sometime soon!:dizzy:

None yet I'm afraid, hopefully soon as going to get someone to remove it for me and take the engine up as a whole to be checked. I do however feel like I've ditched the Cayman idea, turns out you can't disable the PSM fully - if it's 'off' it is only off under throttle but remains active on...

Indeed, I gave it a fair crack I guess! lol I'll let you both know re: the parts. I'm waiting to hear back from someone on an engine and box, but chances are I'll take that one Pav and a manifold. I'll pm when I know cheers

Cheers, dose of luck much needed this time! Do you have any of those parts? (engine, box, upper engine mount, gearbox mount, exhaust manifold, battery tray (inc lid)) If so condition, mileage and price if you'd be so kind please :)

Nah not yet - should have done it today but I really couldn't be arsed to even try. As you've seen on Facebook I've been deliberating on cars a fair amount this week(!), but I am now decided on a 987.2 manual Cayman S. So for the amount of money involved in the grand scheme of things, sod it I'm...

Do the flywheel while the clutch is off and box is being done for a diff (best upgrade tbh), but totally not worth it on it's own if you were paying labour. Lower final drive, hmm depends on usage as it has compromised the road car nature of the car, mpg is dire and motorway use is painful -...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Amen! Even now people indicate for me to pass and they are actually still pulling away! Takes them a while to realise the car aint quick on the straights. The N/A tuning is a pure indulgence on the road to be frank, the noise and drama. For track it would take a Meg swap to give a tangible...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Had a play with a Caterham before it went, only just getting from me and I was obviously keeping back slightly from the point of view that at the time I thought I need to drive this home! Guy driving it turned out to be an instructor and pro race driver who was impressed with how I was going. So...

Well a very good conversation with Ashford, doesn't suspect too much in terms of replacement in this scenario. But I need to send the bearings labelled in order etc and also get the oil drained and sent to him - which will then all go off for analysis to find out root cause. Test the pump too of...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Yeah M3 is always a contender, and always something I scowl at when I pass knowing I probably should have bought one a long time ago! :tearsofjoy: Mind you rod bearings on those are a thing... but not huge money to be proactive and get done ahead of time. Just something about the brutishness of...

Haha, made me laugh! :) Chris only Cayman I want is a 987.2 S, and that's just a bit much dollar I think? No chance with my luck would I risk owning the older engine, all the oval bores stories etc - I would get all of it!! I can't being myself to going back to a stock/ish F4R - same situation...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Tutuur, yeah absolutely! I think it's fair to say I've 'struggled' with this car :tearsofjoy: I wish it was only top mount knocking! That's still there but it's got to be the nature of the solid mounts, it's certainly nothing untoward anyway. Still doesn't explain the lowering issue with them...

Hmmmm, ever get that sense of Deja Vu? But up until the big end decided to introduce himself personally, jesus christ the car was truly truly epic until that point! Variety of plans hatching at the moment. But we'll see what the damage is when I can get the engine out, I think it's an oil...

    B pillar vinyl removal

I did mine on a very hot day and also used a hair dryer, it just pulled off easy in almost one strip and barley any residue left, what residue was left I just rolled off with my finger and then little polish after. Probably easiest job I've done! I've heard people as above say there are tricky...
