Top Mount Help for Bilstein B14s

Very strange, didn't need to do anything to mine and no mention in the manual, just says fit original mounting parts according to sketch - perhaps you needed more elbow grease ;) lol. Having said that I don't recall mine being stiff in the slightest so perhaps they thinned the spindles down...

Top Mount Help for Bilstein B14s

Rears: Don't need to drill anything, just slip the rubber bush on which is 2-piece. Fronts: It's just a basic M12 nylock nut and C washer. 34Nm is what Bilstein list on another page. Iirc is Renault list 60Nm on their specs - tbh an impact wrench is the best way so couple of rattles and...

Removing rear seats - any implications with MOT?

Can you turn off the rear seat warning's in CLIP?

    Stud Kits

Cheers - though from what the above posts say above I don't think they are going to work on the rear without spacers :\

    Stud Kits

Hi Paul, If you were buying for no spacers, would you opt for 75mm front / 68mm rear then? I've no plans to use spacers and I don't really want studs that poke out far. Cheers

    Urgent!

Also that strut bolt you replaced, pretty sure oem is an 8.8 HT fine thread, so pretty strong and torque is 105Nm on that one. It'll say on the head the grade and if it is don't replace with less than that.

    Urgent!

Heat and an airline with an impact gun when it's seized, but I'm assuming you don't have access to those? Failing that I'd Dremel it and cut the nut through.

quality stuff mate, and how's the TIG welding going? Have you done any welding before and what's the learning curve like?

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Thanks and oh yes always more plans for engine work! I'm not convinced it needs it anymore mind, I'm pleased with how it goes - but it's like a drug this tuning! Anyway on the cheap and easy side of things I will now be able to turn my attention to the spare inlet manifold and 64mm TB situation...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Cheers fellas, yeah NA has its charm  Couple of snaps on the new (hopefully final!) ride height:

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

yeah all good thanks, mind I was concentrating on other things! But certainly nothing beyond what I wouldn't expect from stiffer suspension and solid top mounts now. However the alignment is horrible, very skittish! yeah it's quite quick now, hadn't realised just how quick the speedo moves...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

yeah exactly, I think all things considered (roll centre, bump steer, wishbone angles, damper travel, and just using it on the road!) it's probably an optimal ride height. Anyway less talk from me and more action today.......:track: Charging the action cam now so might see about a quick vid!

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Thanks Pav, appreciate the shots mate. That is about the ride height I am at on the front (and also Carl judging from his latest pics), however I would suggest that any lower on the spring perches is when you would likely experience the loose spring issue we have.

They seemed so comfy too which they really don't look. I could sell the CS's which would largely pay for them, but I think I'd regret selling them so then I'd have to clear space in the roof to store - which I don't relish the prospect of that! Hmm, tough call on the M3 - either option has it's...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

I'm not sure then! At any rate there is an issue with the compbrake mounts not allowing the full adjustment range of the B14's. I can not for one second believe that a TUV approved Bilstein kit would have a loose springs, this is surely why they give you a measurement range of only around 25mm...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Not sure Tom, I'm looking at pics now of these and the Simo top mounts, AST & KW. The others all have what looks like noticeably deeper top hats. Which I guess then that when you have the spring platform wound down, because the top hats are deeper they take up the space and stop the springs...

yeah they'd look good for sure (had to google which ones they were mind!) but I reckon the Ultra's have them licked still. All those sort of jap wheels though look way better with dish, not sure the Clio lends itself well to that unless you majorly screw with the offset. I can't justify the...

This car is looking the absolute nuts on that ride height and wheels! Works perfectly with RB. I've been lusting after bronze wheels for mine (I used to fit bronze TE37's to just about every car in Forza!) as I think it would work well with LY - but would likely look a bit pants I think on...

LY200 - too loud or blow up again, taking bets!

Indeed cheers, it's a good idea to machine that insert down, but given the ballache to do it all again and my absolute itching to get it on track asap, I'll save that perhaps for if (when) the swivels go! Tbh the height it's at now is probably best for handling anyway if I have my sensible hat...
