By "just dandy", I think he meant good or fine I'm pretty sure it's pads that makes brakes squeal I undestood that the grooves improve braking mostly in the wet, as the water can get away etc. Not really sure to be honest. I've never quite understood how reducing the amount of surface area...

I fixed this on my 197 with some WD-40. I just got my head in the footwell and sprayed the crap out of the clutch pedal mechanism. You'll need something to catch the drips though!

You'll be fine with the motors. I took them off my reflectors when I fitted mine. I didn't use new rivets for the bracket, just some bolts.

I did think that that would be a good idea, but I wanted to come up with something new. This avatar picture never got submitted for a POTM comp unfortunately. I chose another one. It was for the "water" theme quite a few months back.
