    Lightweight flywheel sound

Now there's a question. As an Automotive Engineer of some years, the normal discipline is to change one thing at a time in order to quantify the effect. Unfortunately when you've got a gearbox apart, it's not really economic to do that so all I did was find a decent webpage where you can type in...

    Lightweight flywheel sound

The noise you're hearing is gear backlash caused by less inertia from the lightened flywheel. Mine is much louder than it was before I changed mine. I had a lightweight flywheel fitted, a Blackline diff, 4.73:1 CWP from an 021 box along with 1-3 ratios from an 031 to replace my 003 ratios.

Hi All, I have recently purchased a 197 and am doing hillclimbs and sprints with it. I want to know how to put negative camber on the front suspension

I run my 197 on cup dampers and H&R lowering springs on hills and I've never seen the need to swap out to be honest.

Whats the correct wheel bolt tightening torque setting?

Renault will have set the torque according to an awful lot of calculations so don't be afraid to set to the factory settings. That said, I only used to do my locking nut to around 100 because I never trusted it! Nowadays I just run five nuts.

    final drive from a TL4 021 gearbox,

Excellent. I’ll be interested to hear your thoughts. I’m going to be fitting a Blackline LSD and lightweight flywheel alongside these changes. I’d thought about changing tyres but I want to see how this changes things first so I’ll be sticking with 888R’s for most of the summer at least.

    final drive from a TL4 021 gearbox,

So on mine, I'm going to be running a 003 box with exception of swapping 2nd out from a 1.947:1 to the 2.1:1 from the 021 box. I'd thought about swapping 1st as well but decided against it. That will give me a slightly closer set of ratios 1-3 which will be perfect for the hills when allied to...

    final drive from a TL4 021 gearbox,

As far as I'm aware, the Scenic box configuration - position of starter etc, doesn't match the Clio because it's Megane based. Also the ratios themselves won't be best matched to the Clio power characteristics.

    final drive from a TL4 021 gearbox,

Agreed. That said, the 015 has a much shorter 1st and the same 2nd ratio as the 200 so when mixed together, it still gets me better lower gear accels. If anyone is desperate, there's an 021 on ebay from Spain for £220 ish

    final drive from a TL4 021 gearbox,

003 is 4.31 (16/69) 015 being 16/71 works out at 4.43 so probably not far enough for me I want a 4.76 (15/71) because its very expensive to buy a Gripper 5.0:1 for my hillclimb car

    final drive from a TL4 021 gearbox,

No, you're right. Bugger. Ah well, it was only £80

    final drive from a TL4 021 gearbox,

The 015 has the same FD ratio as the 021 and there's a number of them on ebay. I bought one last week. I'm hopeful they're identical and will fit ok

New owner 197 F1 for track day fun

Welcome to the group. I’ve also got a black F1. What number is yours?

N/a track car Vs 225 conversion

I run R888Rs on my hillclimb car and drive to and from the events as well. Not as nice on the road as the Cup 2's I swapped out (a bit noisy) but grip from the first corner is much more assured. But then I'm only ever running a mile at most up hills so they may not suit you as much.

    Crankshaft Pulley Issues?

Left side of the engine when standing looking at it or sitting in the car? Most dampers are designed for lifetime or at least half that. I've never heard of an engine manufacturer (I've been in engine and vehicle dev for 30 years) who schedules a TV damper change with the belt. De-Phaser yes...

    mtech short shifter

Just resurrecting this thread, has anyone used one in a 197/200? I'm just thinking if the stick is extended up towards the wheel then the relative hand movement is increased so I'm thinking this might bring that back in a little bit

    Everything but the kitchen sink...

I think I'm most likely to fit a Gripper LSD and Flywheel for next season, I can't decide on FDU yet. I know where the gearing will be, just don't know if the stack of extra shifts on a run will be paid off by improved acceleration. Maybe I fit it for the following year when the backlash is...

    Everything but the kitchen sink...

The amount of road use is already pretty low to be honest but suspect that will be even more limited with a 5:1 FDU fitted. Have you fitted a flywheel to yours?

    Everything but the kitchen sink...

Like most people indulging in motorsport in their Clio, this has been a quiet year to say the least. One advantage of it is the amount of money I haven't spent on entries. So I'm considering doing a few things over this winter in one hit and I was wondering if anyone here has fitted any of the...

Help needed service light on dash.

Despite the guide saying don't start the car, my R27 wouldn't reset, like yours buttons did nothing, until it was running.
