    What tyres for X85?

On my 8J's I've had 235/40 and currently running 235/45 but they're a bit big tbh. As it's a race car though, I just trimmed the arches until they stopped rubbing.

Air Intake - What is this Box?

To just put a bit more meat on the bones and (apologies if it gets boring - 30 years in automotive and powertrain engineering does this to you - sorry) to explain further. Those resonators are put there for a couple of reasons. Most popular is not so much the reduction in volume but to tune the...

Can anyone recommend some light semi-slick ?

I swapped out a set of R888Rs for some Yokohama A052s. The Toyos were finished and weighed the same as the new Yokos. I only weighed them because I was curious and if I've saved 4-6Kg on the car (which I have comparing new with new) then great. Performance wise, the 52s have been much faster on...

    Identifying TDC part number

I'd have thought a decent dealer should be able to tell you what you need by your VIN

The clocks are probably original as it's pretty easy to swap the foil to that from a 200

    Steering not locked

Here's a thought: Mine only started doing this earlier this year, after I've had a new flywheel fitted. I wonder if there's any relevance in that if it is indeed the crank sensor.

    Steering not locked

Interestingly I've had this three times on my car. The first time we thought it might be battery but we had a jump starter in the car park at work. Something, I don't know what, caused it to start but battery was good and the keycard had no effect, or appeared not. The second time it went...

    Blackline LSD

As far as I'm aware, the Blackline is a direct copy for a Quaife to the point that parts are interchangeable. That's what I've been told, not what I know. I can't speak for the VAL unit though.

    Blackline LSD

I've got one and while it's probably not as effective as a Gripper, it's much better than stock

    Which lsd VAL?

I've got a Blackline supplied and fitted to mine by Rentune. A definite improvement over the standard setting. While you're at it with the box off, I'd suggest fitting a lightweight flywheel too and definitely replace your slave cylinder unless it's nearly new.

    Tl04 003 vs 031

You need to search for the Renault technical note 6019A. That shows you everything you need to know, including instructions. You are doing it slightly different to me in that I kept my 003 and fitted 1-3 from an 031 as well as final drive from an 021. I didn't build my box, I had it done for me...

    Tl04 003 vs 031

What box have you got in there now, is it an 024?

    Tl04 003 vs 031

Oh yeah, absolutely. I had a lightweight flywheel fitted at the same time and it flies through the gears now compared to before. I've had to rethink gears and shift points (what was third is now fourth etc) on the hills though but it's now feeling more natural

    Tl04 003 vs 031

I've actually combined the two, fitting 1-3 from an 031 into my 003 as well as a Final Drive from an 021. I race Hillclimb so I know why you're doing it. I think its made a difference but is now quite short for road use.

    r888r pressures

I run 28 cold all round on mine with no problem but then I don't put the lateral loads into the tyre for long enough unlike a track day. I run that on the road too with no adverse wear issues. There's no point trying to measure hot as the run is over by then.

    Clutch drag at high rpm

Just make sure you really take every care on bleeding the clutch. I had my box replaced and at normal shift speeds, it was fine but when racing the faster shifts caused it to block third. Giving it a really thorough bleed has fixed it.

    Tow eye/strap

I bought both of mine through M.A.D on ebay. I had to run a tap down the thread at the rear though as years of crud and rust had accumulated. The biggest challenge was getting the drill position right on the rear bumper. I was a bit out but just opened the hole up a bit to even it up.

    Vibration from Powerflex mounts

I've fitted a full set of purple/yellow on mine and was quite surprised at the difference regarding vibration but the payoff in terms of handling and shift quality in particular helps.

    Lightweight flywheel sound

    For the final drive, you need to find a TL4 gearbox with the following designations; 019 / 021 / 029 / 031/ 042. They all have a 15/71 CWP = 4.73:1. They're on various sites for sale.

    Lightweight flywheel sound

Unfortunately there's no way to fix it other than replacing your standard flywheel. Renault will have spent a good deal of money and time in analysis techniques and then design verification tests to confirm that've gone as light as they can for performance and fuel economy on the existing part...
