    The infamous nearside knock?

Great information there Turkie, I appreciate this post! I’m fitting powerflex bushes on the torque arm this weekend as I have a knock, otherwise the closest description in my scenario is number 3 with the shock mounts! I only notice knocking when pulling off the clutch or when the throttles...

    -Danman-'s LY 200

Car looks mint Dan, seen it a couple times in the flesh and always looks superb! Makes me jealous for a set of speedlines on LY! Would you recommend any bodyshops for any LY work? Just in case the dreaded day comes where it needs any work!

    Benno's UR197 & Meg 250

Looks good Ben! Top effort that on a hangover! My productivity is rock bottom when it comes to a hangover! Certainly doesn’t look like there’s any front end damage to me, apart from that black diamond of course. ;)

    Big Bens non Clio

Good purchase I say! Annoys me that one of the jets is over enthusiastic to the point where it’s blasting the jet past the window, and the other is in limp mode barely dribbling a droplet of water on the screen! Hopefully an easy swap!

200: Torque Arm - Engine Knocking

Thanks for highlighting where I need to be looking! Checked the dogbone mount and all seems to be ok from there, all nice and tight! The knocks still present, and between myself and my dad we reckon it’s the loose torque arm mount, which is causing the new engine mount below it to flex/knock...

200: Torque Arm - Engine Knocking

Thank you! I can get under the car tomorrow to take a look! I’m just hoping it’s not a case of one of the new mounts coming lose, but it would make sense that the extra vibrations to cause something to loosen elsewhere! (If anyone has a picture of where I need to locate the dogbone mount feel...

200: Torque Arm - Engine Knocking

Apologies for being a complete simpleton but would the dogbone mount be the “gearbox mount”? Or is would that be located elsewhere! I’m wondering if there’s a possibility of the new gearbox mount being loose! Should be able to have the car on a ramp tomorrow

200: Torque Arm - Engine Knocking

The engine sits pretty snug, barely any movement when rocking it back and forth, the only thing I could pick up on was the torque arm. Will get the dog bone mount checked to see if there’s any play in that!

200: Torque Arm - Engine Knocking

Morning All, I’ve recently swapped out the engine mounts for the uprated KTEC mounts (upper engine / low stabiliser and gearbox) to stop the play on the new flexi’s that have been welded in! Ran a dream for a week until yesterday where there’s a noticeable knocking sound when raising the...

    Front End Damage

Not good Ben! I was with my mate in Le Mans when a French local gave the front of his 197 a whack, the only thing to note was the black mesh grill at the bottom of the bumper had become loose, but it was a case of clipping it back on! Hopefully nothing too serious, i remember the sound on my...

    Just a note

I have to say I’ve thoroughly enjoy this forum since becoming a member in 2015! The one thing that bothered me was that I would be a judged for my lack of engineering/technical knowledge (@Chris myself not knowing what a lathe is haha!), but this forum is very welcoming, educational and full of...

    Exhaust Advice

Spent a good while this evening driving the Clio, and can only vouch for what a great job the mechanic did on the car (despite his timely 3 week holiday!) All noise is now completely gone, so my original guess of the ‘baffles going in the exhaust’ were merely the early stages of the flexi’s...

    Exhaust Advice

Picking the Clio back up tonight after a painful stint without it! - New flexi’s welded in - Fresh set of brake pads - Uprated KTEC mounts My dads took it for test drive as such, said it noticeably vibrates more on the throttle and in the cab when stationary, but that’s to be expected with the...
