MS 200 fun road and track car - and other car stuff!

I picked up a car I’ve been looking for for a while yesterday, I had a few CRXs when I was younger and always wanted a Torino red pearl tintop or moonroof. They’re quite sought after and like all classics are getting harder to find in good condition. This one was a car I’d enquired about...

A hairdressing update this time but I’m sure you’ll appreciate the Clio influence! I was hugely impressed with the Clio’s brakes so... I took a leaf from the 182 owners and had some carriers made up for 280mm discs, this time from a Nissan Almera Tino! Should improve upon the...

I would love to get her on track mate, she’s very competitive so thought she’d love it, but tried karting first and it wasn’t for her. Must try again some time!...

Small Clio update, I identified the cause of the knocking from the front. Turns out one of the spherical bearings in the Compbrake mounts has failed... too much kerb at Blyton I imagine, I’m a terror for that! :sob: Tom has kindly sorted two new bearings quickly and at a good price, I figured...

I certainly have, they’ve become real collectors items haven’t they? They’ve made some stunning cars over the years!! Can see the appeal of a smaller more easily placed M car, 3 really has become 5-sized!

Oooh, Mrs. Patrese, bit of a soft spot there!!! :relaxed: Her husband’s a bit of a hero too! I’ve heard the same about the CCs, crazy money to be replacing on track. But for an exception or two ours will be a road only car, not affordable or sensible for me to track one. I’ll bet the X3 makes...

We’re looking at upgrading the Z4 before long, so took an M3 out. Thought some of you might have a giggle at my partner’s reaction!

Exciting Clio update that I’ve eluded to is here! Was a bit of a leap to replace the Recaros but I’m pleased with the outcome! :relaxed:

Lots going on with the MX2000 ahead of the new trackday season. Firstly the biggest job, now out of the way was a clutch change. Despite the extra power I was really keen to retain a nice useable clutch and happily I’ve done that with an ACT heavy duty pressure plate and genuine Honda friction...

Cheers @Pav about the editing, we’re making an effort with the vids and channel and it certainly doesn’t come easily or naturally to me. Will who shares the channel with me is a graphic designer so I’ve had some learning to do to make sure I’m not letting the side down with my editing. :tearsofjoy:

I got mine from eBay.de and just waited for the Euro rate to be a little more favourable, they ended up about £550. Sub-£650 should be fairly easy, a bit of patience required for a bargain. :)

Time to bring things up to date! Plenty going on with the cars as ever! Best place to start is where we left it, headed to Blyton Park... This was the first track outing since I made an adjustment tool for the front Konis, so essentially the first track test of adjustable shocks...

I hope everyone had a great Christmas and enjoys any remaining time off! A lovely time was had here, the first year I’ve been in Lincs so not had to travel over from Cheshire! :thumb: Had a free afternoon today so had a play with the cars before it got dark. My family had my road...

Made a tool for adjusting the front shocks today, no 3D printers here sadly!... Awesome result!!!!! The garage that fitted them left the fronts in a middle setting for some reason despite setting the rears at full soft as requested, most odd... Which means tweak, tweak and I’ve got the...

You’re right of course, 7k and two trackdays since the last changes. My father is an engine builder and race engineer from times when clearances were looser and oil was much poorer, I learned my mechanical sympathy (or generosity) from him! :tearsofjoy:

    Clio 200 Supercharged Track Car!

You’re a better man than me if you can draw the line... it’s never done for me!! :sob: I have a centricharged s2000 lump in my mk1 MX5 and found shorter gearing really helps. With the not dissimilar peaky delivery of the Renault lump I would imagine there would be a comparable improvement. That...

    Clio 200 Supercharged Track Car!

Very cool! :sunglasses: I love how subtle the installation is in the bay, would love to do something like that and have it appearing totally standard! Have you got a short final drive too? I have found it really suits the power delivery of centrichargers. :thumb:

    Track pads

I’m impressed with the RC6s, felt a bit grabby at first but have settled down. Sensible wear rate on track and have never squealed on the road yet. I had been swapping them in for track use only but left them in this time and they’re behaving perfectly well on the road. As others have...
