I made it to the track evening at brands on Tuesday! I went round pretty much all evening, with no problems at all and it made me realise why my heart told me to get another 197! If anyone is bored and fancies having a look at the on board footage!

Having had a 197 and a 200 meglio many years ago, i then had a mk5 golf track car, that was a very capeable car...but it was an expensive habit that was in the verge of going wrong all the time! I sold that and am now back in a 197, as i know it will lap all day long without the big costly...

When i get a chance to drive it I will let you know. But having driven it half a mile from the workshop back home, i cannot see an issue with getting any knee bashing! I'm pretty happy with how its looking...even if its not how I had intially intended ut to be like this.

Having owned both, i would stick to N/A, i would say my meglio was one of the best built cars out there when these conversions first appeared and I had spent a fortune to stop heat issues on track! They are ace on the road, but as soon as you wanted to do hard session on track with anything...

Yes i totally understand that, but this is currently no where near fitting, even with a bit of tweaking. Hence why it's going back for jigging to see where it gone wrong.

Well i had planned to dry fit this before painting/powder coating for this exact issue. The whole point of me buying the dash dodger style cage, is that it retained some of the creature comforts for a sunday morning road blast should i want to. My previous car was fully cage and had the door...

So a further update on the cage...it doesn't fit, so is beibg returned to the manufacturer, hoping to get it rectified and back too me soon! As you can see, the front bars do not clear the door handles.

So the cage is being dry fitted, had to strip more trim than i thought would have been needed for a dash dodger....but its a nice tight fit!

Very small update on this...DS UNO pads fitted up front, with new pins and braided hoses, along with a pair of rear calipers due to the usual seizure issues! I've replaced the handbrake cables too as they weren't looking their best! I've fitted an upper powerflex bush too, as i had the wiper...

This really is a money no object build! Will be the ultimate car once done i think.

Well another part of the cheap track car build arrived today....needs a bit of a clean, but it was an ebay win! Just need to sort some side mounts to fit!

Cheers bud, I have seen that offer. I have spoken to another memeber on here that is breaking his car that has a cage and am toying on which route to go with.

The deal ended at the end of October, i have spoken to JP directly as i had a cage in my previous car from them, but said they might do a new deal for the end of this month....just waiting to see what they come up with
