    Pearl White RS200 (Cambs/Herts area)

Welcome. Only 46 200's were ordered in Pearl White. I've one too. Is yours multiple shades of PW? I'm not talking the contrast between the plastic bumpers and metal body, which is the usual excuse, but different shades on the body? The paint quality on mine is absolutely shocking! It goes from...

    Alloy footrest

That's the part number for a footrest. Although Renault Wolverhampton informed me it was listed as "plate alu" at a cost of £32. The backing plate for it is 8200 308 062. Pictures here: http://www.renault21.de/clio/fuss_stuetze.pdf When I quoted 8200 552 070, as in the picture from Simoxmino...

    Oil

I got the oil changed in the 'box last week. Whatever was drained out was what was used in Dieppe in 2012 when it was built. Likely Elf Tranself NFJ 70w80. I used the Elf Tranself NFP 70w80 as a precautionary replacement as I'd read and heard the NFJ is rubbish; possibly even a factor in these...

    The Best Road Tyres

Michelin do list them on their UK website. It's the highest speed rated tyre they manufacture in that size, ZR(Y), which is why, I'd expect, so few people stock them. http://www.michelin.co.uk/tyres/dimensions/215-45-17

    The Best Road Tyres

Thanks for pointing them out. That's great news. Although I don't need new tyres yet I'd definitely be getting a set of these to replace the OEM Continental 3's. The Pilot Sport Cup 2 look a little too edgy for the amount of rain we have in the UK. No doubt a super tyre, but it would need a...

    Cracked Sealant O/S Top Mount

So, the standard Renault experience continues to descend to the usual darker depths. I call the service department of the main dealer yet again today, as they'd yet again not bothered to follow up or call me back. I'm kept on hold in silence for a while as the agent checks the warranty...

    Oil

Yes. You'll need the new NFP. http://www.elf.com/consumers/car-oil/car-manual-transmission-fluid/elf-tranself-nfp-75w-80.html Spec sheet. http://catalog.elf.com/sites/elf/files/product/nodenid/files/ELF%20TRANSELF%20NFP%2075W-80%20062014_EN.pdf

    Oil

As I previously mentioned Legend, I think there could be a few instances of user error when these 'boxes have failed. I don't think the oil and the design have helped either. Good to know you are aware of so many that have done up to 95,000 miles. They should really be good for 150,000+ if they...

    Oil

Nice one Rich. Thanks for that. I may well pop down to R-Sport who are local-ish to me and have them replace the NFJ with NFP. As the 'box has under 4,000 miles, a change to NFP should see me fine. Rich do you know when the 'boxes started shipping with steel baulk rings rather than the brass...

    Oil

Any view on when the NFP was first produced Rich? I'm thinking most cars will have had NFJ in the 'box from new.

    Oil

Could be the Elf NFJ vs. the NFP? Seems like the spec of the old NFJ wasn't right for the 'boxes under such load. I expect most 197/200's were shipped with NFJ in the 'box. Having now done 1500 miles in mine I have a feeling there could be a case for incidences of user error exacerbating the...

    Oil

They would as they don't sell Elf NFP (I think) ; ) I swear by Fuchs Pro S Race 5w40 in the engine though.

    Oil

Good to know this about the Elf NFP. It was the conclusion I came to that it would likely be the better oil once all the specs were compared. The link to the thread I posted above covers most of my thinking out loud. Do you know when it was first produced by Elf? As my 200 was built in 2012...

    Cracked Sealant O/S Top Mount

Classic Renault main dealer service. I call them last Friday to follow up on where the warranty approval is. "Sorry, we're busy, we'll get someone to call you back later." Yesterday, a week later, I call them and ask for an update again. "Sorry the man that approves the warranty work isn't here...

Spring Rates & Damper Rebound - Rid me of this dreadful 200 Cup suspension

I thought about fitting the B6 and Eibachs to my road going Rallye, but I enjoyed it so much as OEM I didn't bother. The rally car was sufficient for fun. I used the PTS Bilstein gravel inserts at the front on springs purchased from Coil Springs in Sheffield that regularly (or used to) advertise...

Spring Rates & Damper Rebound - Rid me of this dreadful 200 Cup suspension

Yea yea... ; ) The Rallye was mostly used on gravel and used gravel inserts in the front and tarmac for the rear. No springs on that rear trailing arm and just the size of the torsion bar to play with. Tim Hookway suggested the set up and it worked well. Bringing the rear into play was still...

Spring Rates & Damper Rebound - Rid me of this dreadful 200 Cup suspension

I'd say the non-cup springs are the place to start. One thing I've noticed about the Koni kit is that is states they are for the Mk III RenaultSport Clio including the F1 Team, but not the Cup. As mine is a FF with Cup suspension then I'd presume it's got the same dimensions and mounting points...

Spring Rates & Damper Rebound - Rid me of this dreadful 200 Cup suspension

You star. Thanks so much. Next, to find out the various damper insert rebounds. Standard springs while keeping the Cup insert might be a good place to start playing. You'd hope the Cup insert would be able to control the standard softer spring really well. In theory...

Spring Rates & Damper Rebound - Rid me of this dreadful 200 Cup suspension

Looking at the catalogue in more detail the Maxi has five spring choices. Three for tarmac and two for gravel. The Access has just two. Confusingly the Maxi and Access spring rates are shown in different measurement types. Deca Newtons for the Maxi are 6.7DaN/mm, 7DaN/mm and 7.5DaN/mm for the...
