    The mysterious 'knock'

Consider yourself lucky, us 200 owners get the knock as standard, from new :P

    Axel spacers?

Actually you don't even need to get the diffuser out, if you have the proper tools (most important of all: a short torque wrench) You just lift the car, remove the rear wheels and then undo the 4 bolts securing the stub axle assembly to the axle beam. Just get a friend to hold the stub axle...

    Out of oil!

Uploaded with ImageShack.us The screenshot is from the latest version of Renault's Dialogys, alas in Spanish. On the left is the quantity of oil (in litres) required for a full drain without an oil filter change and on the right is the amount required when also replacing the oil filter. If...

    Out of oil!

The manual states that the oil level should be checked when the engine is cold. Being slightly over max (1-2mm) with the engine hot is normal I think...

    Out of oil!

The F4R takes 5,15lt of oil without an oil filter change, with an oil filter change and after careful draining it takes up precisely 5,35-5,4lt of oil (according to Dialogys documents and a recent experience)

    Slight oil overfill

Thanks for clearing this out. For some strange reason the most common technical term here in Greece for the PCV valve can roughly be translated as 'oil fume valve'.

    Slight oil overfill

I didn't rely entirely on the dipstick, I knew the quantity of oil the dealer used (5,5 litres), sucked out around 150ml and the oil level is where it should be (5,35 litres in the engine as per the service manual). If it was easy to reach, I would have pulled the filter, however Renault have...

    Slight oil overfill

Well my OCD got the better of me so I had the excess oil drained out. As I had calculated, about 100-150ml was drained. I just measured the oil level with a cold engine (as per the manual), now its right on the max line :) From now on I'll be telling the dealer techs to only use 5 litres...

    She's Dead

Apparently this is one of the more common issues with the 200 - early slave cylinder failure. Annoying because it leaves the car undriveable.

    Slight oil overfill

Took the 200 in for an oil and filter change. I checked the last oil bottle (elf oil in dealerships here comes in 1 litre bottles, so they used 6 bottles) and there was half a litre left. That means they used 5,5 litres where Renault state that on average the engine takes 5,35-5,4 litres...

    CSC3 vs CSC5

Whoah. On the official conti site (and product pdf) it states 'Tyre width 225 - 325', no mention of 215 width version...

    CSC3 vs CSC5

Well for one the CSC5 doesn't come in the 215 dimension, however it seems 225 tyres fit well on the 197/200...

Suspension noise or is something inside the cabin noisy? (update: now with video)

@adam I don't get the noise on smooth ground.. I think our noises have different sources. Posting a video recording of your noise will clear things up. Sounds like the noise in your case could be cabin-related. The noise I get is a distinct metallic 'CLOOP' from the front left, its heard when...

Suspension noise or is something inside the cabin noisy? (update: now with video)

Any updates on this? I can't be the only one pursuing a solution to this very annoying problem.. Now that the temperatures have gone up, the noise is more prevalent and its doing my head in.. I can now predict with 99% accuracy when the noise will pop up depending on the state of the road...

    Warranty Speaker issue (Read)

This is interesting. When was your Clio built RS-Halla26?

    Didn't last long

My only fear is that the problem will be properly diagnosed after the warranty runs out.. :/ I can assure you though, that its not the top mounts (have had front left top mount replaced, made absolutely no difference. The old one was as good as new). And seeing as how owners with coilovers...

    Suspension Doink!!

Any updates on this issue? I haven't had time to visit Renault yet about the ACTIS solution. However, now that the weather is getting warmer, I'm noticing the clunk more often:( I still believe that its not the shock thats the culprit.. Something, somewhere down there is loose though...
