    What causes Torque Arm knock?

I replaced the torque arm a little over a year ago but since the weathers gotten colder it’s started knocking again. When removing the bush on the original arm there weren't any splits and given it only happens cold I’m guessing the rubber shrinks, either allowing the casing to knock against the...

clicking/ticking noise from the engine bay

My engine makes a similar ticking noise, as does the one in this video which is apparently an example of a healthy F4R-830. I also sometimes have a minor ticking/blowing noise on cold startup which I think may be from the exhaust manifold, once warm it disappears.

    Cambelt/Checking for Oil Leak?

Giving a quick update on the oil leak - 2 cam cover bolts were weeping but the main leak was from the camshaft position sensor. I tried sealing up the sensor with some silicone sealant a couple of times but it still kept on leaking, fitted a new aftermarket sensor and no leak since. It's worth...

    Upper Torque Mount Sleeve

I just found the old mount, transferred the dowel across and took some measurements for ya @Jim_ Height = 10-11mm Diameter = 15mm There's also some markings on it that read: Fm 08 11 As you can see in the picture the dowel has a split to allow some movement. I knocked it out of the old mount...

    Cambelt/Checking for Oil Leak?

I'm having the cambelt done @ bucksautomotive, thinking it may be a good idea to have the cam cover removed & resealed at the same time regardless as it's a belt off job. There def seems to be oil coming from higher up but I'll give the sump a good clean next time it's on the ramp and keep an...

    Cambelt/Checking for Oil Leak?

Hey guys, Just looking for a bit of advice on solving an oil leak while my cambelt is being replaced. I've noticed the undertray always has oil on it but can't be a major leak as the level on the dipstick is quite stable. When I have a look on the ramp the back of the engine looks moist and at...

    Upper Torque Mount Sleeve

I used powerflex bushes with my old mount for a few weeks then decided to buy an original mount from Renault and the new one swapped straight over. Here's a picture of a new Renault unit from ROFAG to compare, albeit the other side.

    Swivel hubs.

That makes sense, although I had a lot of play @ 3 & 9 o'clock (none @ 6 & 12) on the N/S wheel which was due to the lower swivel/hub ball joint needing replacement. When driving it would knock on potholes and follow imperfections in road surface. If you're replacing the hub carrier it doesn't...

Anyone elses undertray a bit saggy?

I've noticed my engine undertray has been saggy for the last few years, then today during an oil change and replacing the O/S link arms found that the groove on the undertray has been rubbing on the sump a lot!

    POTM April 2018

I was thinking of a 'Wet n Wild' theme for April, what with the showers and all... it could work in Autumn too ;)

    Alignment issues

I'm curious how you could make sure the subframe is aligned properly? I've often dropped my subframe for certain jobs and the bolt holes on the frame don't leave much room for adjustment.

    Cryptocurrency chat

I had a small amount of LTC and ETH tucked away but decided to exchange to BTC and XMR (Monero). As far as I know Monero is the only truly anonymous/untraceable cryptocurrency so think it should only become more popular, as should Bitcoin as most people buy Bitcoin before exchanging for Monero.

    Upper torque arm

I picked one up for £65 from Renault in June last year, that was trade though the full price is around £10 more. You can also get one from Poland (parts srs on ebay) or Renault Parts Direct for around £80. If you use RPD there's a forum coupon here for free delivery.

    Wheel colour choices

Anthracite hide the dirt well but I think the car looks best with silver wheels, at least when they're clean. They may be best for resale too as they don't look as aggresive as darker colours. I went from anthracite (cup pack) to silver when it was time to refurb and much prefer the look of the...

    Upper torque arm

I had a similar knock letting off the throttle when 5c or less, it was the upper torque arm. It can't hurt to try a poweflex bush as it's cheaper than a new arm. The trickiest part is getting the old bush out as there's a metal plate that holds it in, I tried to pry it off with pliers then...

    Thinking about getting a cat

I'll second the notions to go with shorter hair (it gets everywhere!) and a rescue cat if possible. They're generally low maintenance compared to dogs, no walkies as they come and go as they please, although most of them do love lots of attention. It's quite therapeutic stroking a cat...

    Rentune's Recaro Seat Base?

Yeah the Rentune base is a solid piece of kit yet still much lighter than standard. The height is just right for the design of the car, low enough to feel more connected but any lower and the steering angle would be off.

    The infamous nearside knock?

Thanks for reporting back Doogle. I'm replacing the N/S lower ball joint this weekend so will remove the strut and check the top mount while I'm at it.
