    Dephaser failing

All fixed now after a while of no smooth running and power. Got the dephaser replaced and the solenoid for it also changed out. All good now . No permenant damage.

    Play in gearbox selector arm

I noticed this on my car the other day, did you get to the bottom of it?

    Dephaser failing

So the car isn't running right and its causing me to fall out of love with it. Low down it feels strong and sounds fine but when I'm higher up in the revs, over 4.5k, it feels very gutless not very smooth and also get some horrible engine noises. I'm thinking this could be the dephaser going...

Went to check my sparks this morning only to find this: Spark well full of water.....

    Engine issues

So a wee while ago I was getting bad issues with the car throwing random/multiple misfires at me. It turns out after trying coil packs, sparks and eventually a new lambda that it was the lambda throwing the fuelling completely out as it was giving out 0v flat under full throttle. Now ever since...

    Random Misfiring

There’s a sticky thread explaining the part numbers for the lambda. I got mine off eBay, it was a bosche one. There is a difference for the connectors depending on the age of your car.

    Random Misfiring

I think I got mine from amazon for under £20. Get a bluetooth or wifi one that connects to your phone then you can use an app, I used car scanner

    Misfire

Thats the issue finally solved. Looked like I was right with that Lambda reading 0v which was throwing the fuel trim right off. Fitted a new Lambda and all is good now, finally got some power smooth running again. Here is a video of how the lambda should read:

    Random Misfiring

Take a look at the thread i've posted just two below you. Same sort of issue but misfiring at higher revs, get an OBD2 reader and check the upstream Lambda

    Misfire

I'm thinking it's just the lambda. I've attached a video of the readings i'm getting. You can see when i'm on throttle and the lambda is reading a voltage fluctuation the short term trim is moving about also but when i'm on throttle and the lambda flatlines at 0V the short term fuel trim is...

    Misfire

Right is there any mapping gurus here. Been out for a drive whilst checking readings. Under full throttle the O2 sensor is dropping to 0V so the short term fuel trim is leaping up to 99% to correct this. The problem is that the car is still running lean, if the fuel trim were to be dumping in...

    Misfire

I've had a spray round with brake cleaner and found nothing. I've got a new upstream sensor on order. What sort of readings would you expect from the sensor. I've got an OBD2 reader and been out driving whilst monitoring the voltage whilst monitoring O2 sensor 1 bank 1. If I go full throttle at...

    Misfire

Been doing some more thinking about this whole issue. I'm thinking the problem is that it is running too lean. When I removed each of the spark plugs they all were white, a sign of running too hot/too lean. My thinking is too just go for the Lambda sensor, any thoughts? Also which Lambda...

    Misfire

thanks for the reply. I actually trained as an electrician and I'm time served, albeit I haven't sparkied in a few years. So basic resistance checks shouldn't be an issue. What resistance would i be checking on the injectors? just the resistance of the coil?

    P0300 and P0313 Codes

Hmm I can’t hear anything different. Deciding wether to try O2 sensors or injectors next

Ok, I'll get under the car tomorrow and see how its looking. Did your's sound any different Ive tried new plugs and coils with no luck so far.

Did you ever find a solution for this?

    Misfire

Yeah it's annoying. A few people have had this same issue and each one has been solved with a different solution. Going to try new coil packs today

    Misfire

Thanks, I'll try this out. Do you think the O2 sensor could be causing this issue though?. Power is really down about 4K revs and lumpy too. Got the Misfire light (Flashing engine light) up a couple times.

Yeah I decided to check the plugs, found some water ingress into the drivers side plug. Replaced all four plugs and still got the same issue. I've also removed and cleaned the cam sensor with no joy. Think I'll try get a coil for the spark plug that was rusted/wet and see if thats at fault.
