Dephaser failing

So the car isn't running right and its causing me to fall out of love with it. Low down it feels strong and sounds fine but when I'm higher up in the revs, over 4.5k, it feels very gutless not very smooth and also get some horrible engine noises.

I'm thinking this could be the dephaser going? The car has had its timing belt done within the required times. Does a new dephaser require new timing belt also?

Thanks,
Jack

The pulley should be done every time along with the water pump because if they go wrong it all has to be done again it does not make sense not to it. An engine is expensive and a Clio Silverstone rare if it were me I would not be revving the engine or even driving it, get it to a Renault specialist ASAP they will be most experienced with what's wrong and better to guide you to best way to fix time/money wise. Yours is the number 1 Silverstone your posts are all about misfires error codes etc. and on track I think it's time to take it to a specialist.

All fixed now after a while of no smooth running and power. Got the dephaser replaced and the solenoid for it also changed out. All good now . No permenant damage.

Good to hear I guess you done a full timing belt change at the same time early so you don't have to go through the labour again in a few months.
