Had a good night shift lunch hour rebuilding the steering rack with new inners and ends, when I was previously searching for the knocking/clicking noise I found quite a lot of play in the driver side inner rod. So decided to change inner and outer on both sides just because I like spending money...

Anyone know if this is normal? Looks like that driver side shaft has extended somehow? I’ve Tried looking at photos of ones for sale to compare but it’s hard to tell on the photos. Someone just tell me it’ll be fine and I’ll crack on lol Fitted a couple of rivnuts either side of the subframe...

Boredom set in waiting for the box to come back so I decided to give the subframe a clean up, not that anyone would see it anyway. Used an Autoglym engine cleaner spray I had already in the garage mixed with a brush and a wire brush attachment on a drill. Wasn’t amazing results but removed the...

New crank seal in and block cleaned up, the seal I removed was more of an orange colour so maybe non genuine Clutch and flywheel fitted. Re-used flywheel bolts naughty naughty but I couldn’t bring myself to pay £38 including delivery for them! Re-used flywheel bolts many times over at work...

Nearing closer to present day. End of Nov the MOT was due but it passed and no problems with emissions with the first cat missing thankfully. December I decided to sorn it and got it up on axle stands ready for gearbox removal, any one who has a new build will know how tight these garages...

To be honest I was playing about with the tyre pressures so might have had these set too low which could of been affecting the tyre performance, when I got home it looked like the tyre had been running on the sidewall at times. I’m all for the tyre talk! it’s good to get other peoples opinions...

Changed the gearbox oil praying that this would have some sort of effect of my 3rd gear crunching but new in the back of my mind that the damage was already done. I was right damage already done. Bought myself a 205 gti to cheer myself up in August last year, I t’s a 1990 1.6 in decent...

Clicking noise sorted! The 2 rear subframe bolts were both slightly loose although you couldn’t visibly see but when I checked if they were tight they definitely weren’t 105Nm or whatever it should be. Trackday at Croft was mega, some proper motors there and I was looking in my mirrors most of...

Another track day done at Teesside Autodrome in July, double bad news. Knocking/clicking noise is still there and it’s happening under braking and riding the curbs now, something definitely not right. To make matters worse 3rd gear started crunching on the way home welcome to the money pit lol...

In search of the knocking noise from the track day I had the top mounts changed as they were both split. My wipers started to play up and would wipe 3 times then stop in the middle of the windscreen, 2 issues found. Wiper motor was goosed and linkage was pretty much seized solid. Removed...

Had my first track day in June last year, it was at Teesside Autodrome which is a karting track but they do car track nights in the summer. It’s a 2.1km circuit and they do drifting events there so plenty big enough for a car. With it being my first track day I was pretty nervous beforehand...

Had a good scratch about underneath and found a couple of small issues, nothing that can be fixed though. Some shoddy workmanship when fitting the braided brake line at the rear, the metal spring clips weren't fully extended meaning the brake hoses must of literally been rattling about the whole...

I‘d left the exhaust a month or so before but it was just too loud and droney so got booked into a local exhaust place for a centre silencer……much better. Still loud enough when it needs to be but agrees with my ears now. they also re-done some questionable welds where the back box meets the...

After the 2hr motorway drive home I was glad the intention was only a weekend car, it sits high in the rev range while cruising for a daily! That would get annoying real quick. First impressions were pretty good, no obvious issues with the car which is always a bonus. A few observations...
