I think with motorway miles the tyres would last longer in terms of mileage. It's town driving where you're going to wear them out quicker. All the accelerating, stopping and turning etc.

I just think with drilled and/or grooved discs as they differ from manufactored spec I'd personally feel better telling them. I can just see/fear an insurance company refusing to pay out as the brakes were different. The pads i wouldnt think make any difference as if the insurer sent out someone...

The MTEC discs are either drilled, grooved or both so visually they look different. So I would think its best to tell your insurance company. If they were vented/solid like the Renault ones like then I wouldnt bother telling them.

I enquired about the change in brakes to my insurance company, and they said it will be an extra £21 for the year. I need new rear discs and pads. So standard Renault ones are £211 all in, MTEC around £178 (plus coasting and minus any discount) so with the added insurance its not that much...

No noise when turning the wheel, just going straight. Can't hear it at higher speed just when going 30mph or so or slower over a bumpy road.
