Everyone who has had a problem who have been made to pay should email Dom Littlewood, sure the gearboxes are unfit for purpose. My old 1.2 clio that was 16 years old had its original gearbox from new and I gave that some abuse being my first car when I passed my test.

As far as I am aware its an accessory that does not come with the car, was the case with the 197 anyway.

Not sure washing alone will remove the wax, might be worth giving Russ a PM and see what his advice is. I'm sure it will be fine just make sure you keep the car clean.
