    Albi 197 - Burghfield Villiage

Hello (if you're on here). I was helping my mate James fit a window to his classic beetle when you drove past - you probably noticed my Albi 200 parked out the front. Good choice in colour.. :D Rich

    What mods?

There's not a great deal you can do with these engines in reality. An air filter, exhaust and remap is about where it ends with sensible funds. After that you're taking cams which starts getting pricey. Rich

    Snap Crackle & Pop?

Does anyone happen to have a before and after when sat on the motorway? I too would be concerned that it'll drone *somewhere* around 70-80mph as the CAT will work like a silencer. I'd love some pops and crackles though... Rich

    Oil cooler

There must be an oil temp sensor on the car for the ECU to read, on all cars. The RS Monitor reads in OBDII data, so you could just get something like a ScanGauge to show you this instead. Rich

    New Clio Williams ?

If they do, I'd chop my 2011 Clio 200 in instantly. I don't think RenaultSport do crazy things like that anymore, which is a shame! Rich

What does it take to get a test drive. Grrr

Sorry, just to be clear.. I meant FF with CUP pack. I'm too old and grumpy to enjoy a full CUP experience ;) For a weekend car, I'd say a FF with CUP pack would be ideal. If it's a daily driver it's certainly worth considering the non-CUP version for a bit more comfort and 95% of the handling...

    Oil cooler

Ah good. Memories of my old 200sx which has 2x sandwich plates - one for the Setrab oil cooler and one for the gauges! Rich

    New Clio Williams ?

A RenaultSport guy on their official forum said it was pure speculation, no fact in the article at all (as usual). He said they do hope to do 'something' but it all depends on what the commercials are between the two companies to what level they can work at. The engine would need some serious...

What does it take to get a test drive. Grrr

Sounds like my experience with the Reading Renault on the Basingstoke Road. I turned up and asked for a test drive in a 200 with a CUP pack and the sales guy told me to come back 'anytime' next weekend. I turned up, with my son (as I wanted to make sure his seat fitted and he had leg room etc)...

    Bringing the steering wheel closer?

Yup.. I can confirm the FF 200's have reach adjustment, as I was playing with mine the other day :)

    Oil cooler

Sandwich plate option is probably the easiest, you can then fit multiple sensors to the same plate.. i.e. oil pressure + temp. Some can be a PITA to get sealed well though, then you have the whole clearance with the radiator. Rich

Quick Poll of sorts, Yay or Nay

    Keep.. it looks tacky

    Oil cooler

^ Foxspeed is right.. I ran quite a large oil cooler on my Nissan 200sx and with a thermostatic switch it worked perfectly. Most quality oil would be OK up to and around a constant 130oC, some more pricey oils will be OK at 150oC. I seem to recall with a huge cooler in place it kept the oil at...

Quite a few 200's at Goodwood Festival of Speed this weekend?

I was parked up near the campsite... didn't see any others except inside !?

    OOps

Looks like the cars been understeering like a mo-foo and it's just scrubbed the side tread away to me.. Rich

    Out of oil!

I bought one of those sucky things from ebay years back and used it for sevicing my Alpina.. Sooo much nicer to use, rather than having to get under the car... plus, the couple of times I undid the sump plug no more than a couple of drips came out - so it gets just about all the oil out. Rich

    Superior spec (aircon) reporting in

Always thought mine was good until having 4 people in the car on a hot day. Even set at 16oC it really struggled to cool the air. :( Rich

    Need a favour...Anyone with a RS monitor???

Litchy, I really wouldn't bother.. the RS monitor isn't all that and has some significant 'bugs' IMO. i.e. the G meter data gets wiped whenever you switch off the screen and to enable to damn thing you end up switching to CD/USB/Radio about 3 times befoe hitting both buttons perfectly. The only...

    displayed average mpg

The MPG calc reads about 3mpg low on mine. i.e. it says 29mpg and you've actuallt done 32mpg. The best I managed on a run was 31.9mpg, which when worked out on paper was 35mpg. Not too bad IMO, considering that was mixed driving including school runs etc. Rich
