    197 main beam adjustment (Xenons)

Does anyone know if there's a way to adjust the main beam angle? (I have Xenon's + cornering lights) - the NS main beam is pointing lower than is really useful. Dipped is fine, and the beams pop up as you go to main so I've got a reasonable amount of light, but it would be good to tweak the...

    All prepped for winter!

Tell me about it. Also fitted winter tyres to mine over the weekend. Not /quite/ cold enough yet, but off to Scotland next week so erring on the side of caution.

    Insurance moan

If you're not declaring the mods, you might as well not bother insuring it at all :thumb1:.

    Clio (ish)

SWMBO has an Octy VRS which we've had for a few years. Once you get bored of being able to boot it and feel the turbo pull from maybe 2000rpm upwards, it gets dull very quickly. Does everything "enough" - big enough, fast enough, economical enough - just completely devoid of character :(...

    Black 197 - A1123, Soham

Followed you along the A1123 for a bit this evening. Typically I was in the "wrong" car (Caterham)

    Renault Specialist in Gloucestershire?

I've taken the view with mine that I'm going to self-service for small jobs, and use a specialist for major ones like Cambelt. Looking at the state of various bits I've done recently (brake fluid & pollen filter in particular), it's pretty obvious it hasn't been serviced properly in the past...

    Tracking

Most tyre fitters who also do tracking aren't paid enough to worry about getting it "right", just "good enough" (where YMMV of what that means). I'm not sure I've ever had a good result from a tyre place, so have always ended up going to a specialist. You tend to pay more for the service 'cos it...

    The replacement The Indy

Very nice. Even my poxy little 1600 K-series is a riot in a car that only weighs 500kg.

    mpg does not =performance

13  It somehow felt impolite passing 911s on Porsches own test track, but what else can you do when they're getting in the way . Really impressed with the car - chassis is just sublime, and electronics not too interfering. I can see why people like them for track work.

    mpg does not =performance

I've not had mine that long, but fuelly has tracked ~2500 miles at 32mpg (all on super). It's also tracking better than the trip computer reports, which is novel. Very little "town" driving, most is flowing country roads on the commute, but I've had a couple of days blatting too - even on those...

    OE Front brakes

Where from? Fitting kit alone (if you mean the pins) I've seen is ~£40, and http://www.roadtrackraceparts.com/brembo-high-carbon-hc-brake-discs-front-renaultsport-clio-197-200.html is the best I've found for Brembo discs.

    Cheers

I post as jont- on SELOC too. Don't think I've met any of the Sussex crew, but I've seen the odd ToadTV links. I think there was a bit of politicing a couple of years back so they went their own way. Comparing the Elise and Caterham - I sold the Elise maybe 4 years ago, and have had M100 Elan...

Excellent choice. If you haven't already, get yourself over to SELOC. /ex S1 Elise Sport 160 owner and now have a 1.6 K-series Caterham alongside the Clio.

Red 200 at Evans Halshaw, Gateshead.

Fiesta is a properly quick little thing. Ride is a bit crashy, but otherwise stonkingly good fun. /another thought I had was that the dealer probably won't have put Super unleaded in the car. I've only run mine on super so I don't know how flat it will feel on regular, but some cars can be...

Red 200 at Evans Halshaw, Gateshead.

A naturally aspirated car is never going to match the shove in the back a turbo can give. SWMBO has a 2009 Octy VRS Petrol - on paper it's a little bit slower to 60 than the Clio, but in-gear acceleration feels much stronger, with peak torque from 2000ish rpm (in the Clio it's at 5500). The joy...

    intro and few questions;)

Do you want to "win" at track days, or are you just interested in having fun? The more powerful/heavy a car, the faster it will eat consumables. I swapped my Z4M roadster for a Caterham earlier in the year, and have replaced my daily with a 197. I didn't do much track stuff in the BMW, and the...

    Cambridgeshire specialists?

Top service from Mark yesterday . Car felt much better on the way home, and now have a long "todo" list of little things that were noticed during the inspection  (I like the fact that all were noted, even though they don't need immediate attention), but I may get round to them...

i want to buy clio 197 with 137.000km

Recently bought mine on 86000m. Saw a couple of others on similar mileage. The poor ones had worn seat bolsters and patchy service history. Mine has a full history, seats are in good condition and mostly seems tight (suspension, brakes etc). Steering wheel has worn a bit, but not as badly as...

    Cambridgeshire specialists?

Car booked in with Mark in a couple of weeks time. Very impressed with his walkthrough and approach on the phone - starting with not wanting to just "do" a geo until they've given the car a once over to check nothing else is too worn - not at all unreasonable on an unknown 90k car.
