Clio 200 & Corsa VXr @ The Ring

Are you a better driver than Needell? Do you know more about cars than Nedell? Have you driven, and tested more cars than Needell? Needell's comments are worth considering when it comes assessing cars.

Clio 200 & Corsa VXr @ The Ring

There's a video on YouTube of Needell doing a timed lap in a 197, and in VXr, the 197 wins, hands down. Listen to his commentary, the Clio is the by far the better car; Needell knows what he's talking about - the handling on the 197 is miles better. Also, the styling on the VXr is way too...

    How long...

11 weeks 3 days, picked it up on first Saturday of June (2010). When I ordered it, I was told that it would take 10 - 12 weeks (I remember the dealer look it up on his computer, and they had a light system - was on green, so no delays).

    Thinking about getting a 200.....

I know what you mean. This is off topic but they just opened a new two mile 60 mph road by me, which is dangerous, not because of the speed limit, but because some nutters drive at 40 - even seen ppl doing 35 - on it with nothing in front of them, and a string of cars behind them!

    Thinking about getting a 200.....

Had my 200 cup since June, and it never kangaroos (I use Tesco Momentum, don't know if that makes a difference). Of course the engine is not fully responsive until it has warmed up. The seat hight is adjustable, I have my Recaros set as low as they will go. Wait till it's warmed up, wind the...

    CDTi Vaux Insignia

There is lots of talk about torque these days, but the thing that determines a 0-60 time is power / weight ratio. The greater the power to weitght ratio, the faster you'll go 0-60. The relationship between power and torque is power=torque x rpm. There is no way that insignia could have kept up...

URGENT HELP! Week old Clio wont start!

I'm pretty sure all new Renaults come with free roadside assistance. The number should be on the inside of the windscreen, on tax disc holder or something similar. [Just noticed this has already been mentioned above]

    Bummed off!!

My advice, get everything agreed and in writing, and signed by them, before you sign to accept your new car.

    the perfect 200

This is just my opinion - colour is a "personal" thing: I'm not trying to sway you, but mine is a storm grey cup with black speedlines, and I've had loads of nice comments about the colour. It stands out in a line-up, and you get noticed alot (mind all 200/197s do). The black speedlines, red...

Definitive list of must have cleaning products.

Good quality microfibre towels / cloths, for drying and polishing / buffing e.g. Meguiars Water Magnet Microfiber Drying Towel, Meguiars Supreme Shine Microfibre (3 pack). Don't know if these ones are any good, but can get them from Halfords.

Just ordered my 200. V excited! And it is here! Well almost!

Nice colour scheme - sounds lush. I wanted extra tinted windows on mine, but couldn't have them as I ordered a cup. I waited 11.5 weeks for mine (and was on the bus), so I know what dreaming about it is like. When you go to pick it up you will not be able to remove the grin from your face...

    Tyre Pressures!

Just checked mine (200 cup 3 weeks old, speedlines), 34psi front 31 psi back. Black sticker on the inside of the driver's door. Got a picture of the no motorway symbol - 34 front and 31 back. Picture of a motorway symbol - 34front 34 back. Page 20 of the clio RS driver's handbook say "a label...

    Windscreen chip

Just noticed a small chip in my new 200's windscreen! What's the best way to deal with it: live with it, try and fix myself, or call the glass people. The chip looks like it is a tiny drop of water, but I checked and it is real. (I searched the site but couldn't find any similar threads)...

    Running in period?

Thanks to everyone for the advice. Now that I have 600 miles on it, I think I will start to push a bit more every now and then, and even more as the miles go on. I'm fortunate in that I do not need to drive on motorways, or d/cs, and so the revs have been varying on every drive (although...

    Running in period?

Got a 200 cup almost 3 weeks ago, and done almost 600 miles. Been taking it easy and changing up gear at 3,000, and now and again at 3,500 revs. I'm no car expert, but when can I start to take it further, 4,000, 5,000, 6,000 and all the way to 7,500 revs? I've read different things on various...

    Smooth pick up...

I'm no expert, but have a two and 1/2 week old 200 - (560 miles). First thing in the morning it is slighly jumpy and a lack of throttle response. When it warms up it is fine. If it's been parked in the sun all day (at work), it is fine as soon as it starts, even though the engine is cold...

    2nd gear?

I've got a new 200 cup, and only done 500 miles so far, but have noticed that it finds 2nd a bit difficult when cold. It gets into 2nd much easier if I move the stick slightly to my left when moving to 2nd.

It's cool you've got somewhere you can measure power and torque, I like stats. What spec car do you have, and how old is it? Also have you measured the 0-60 (62) time? [I'm not saying power and 0-60 time means how good a car is etc, but it is nice to know]. Also did you get the power at...
