TBH mate I think the change from 197 / 200 to an R26 is a much easier desicion than going from an R26 to a 197 / 200 like your talking about. Just remember the power in yout R26 is much easier to extract. You would constantly have to give the 197 the berries to make it go anything like your R26.

Bollox! I took my car in for some routine work last year, and as their business standards and customer service rules suggested, they put it on the diagnosis machine just to check it. There was a fault code in there (unconnected to my problem) that needed removing. Goodness knows how...

How fast were you going mate, and at what point did the car let go? Were the tyres cold? < (big effect) Was the road slightly greasy? I had a similar moment lately in the 197, i took a corner at not silly speeds that I knew well and carried on going forwards!

Remap on an NA car is a waste of time chap. It might give a bit better torque curve, and help the flat spot in the low revs, but thats it.
