Engine Dynamics 197/200 Upcoming Turbo Convertion Kits

I think its a good idea this kit - Gives people some options. With the meg engine, there isn't many places that'll do a drive in/out turn key conversion for you, and those that do are ££££ and even then what sort of comeback have you got if you get problem with a used engine with limited history.

    Rose jointed drop links.

Think you can buy dust shields for them though, not sure how much they are. Think i've seen them on Carbuildersolutions shop

    Which Braided Lines?

Well for the extra £7.50 I decided to change and go for the above - Hose Technik versions! Should be well worth the extra if they're stainless and come with the required bracket, thanks for the advice guys!

    Which Braided Lines?

Anyone know if goodridge ones come with the rubber sleeves needed? Tbh its no big deal as I can get a bit of fuel line and secure them if required, but would rather go for a kit that comes with them. Can't find HEL brake lines for anything less than about £70-£80. Most goodridge kits are...

    Which Braided Lines?

Hoping to do a track day in August. Already have DS2500 pads and i'll service the brakes before the trackday. I've got some Motul RBF600 fluid to go in which i'll probably get a garage to do, but i'm wondering if it'll be worth me having braided lines fitted while i'm at it? Then if so which...

197 insurance - losing the will!

Im 24, 3 years NCB and live in a Manchester postcode (one of the worst) and my renewals coming in at £740 with mods declared - May sound a lot to the older guys on here but to me that is a steal!

    suspect noisy dephaser pulley!!

I have this every now and then, literally maybe once a month at the most. Last about a second on initial start up. I've not bothered putting much thought into it to be honest as it does it so rarely and doesn't seem to cause any issues.

    Full beam bulb?

Think xenons are just for the dipped beam and normal halogens are used on the rest.

    Engine temperature?

Hes saying hes fitted an 89 degree thermostat from a 182, but now his fan comes on during normal driving. So hes saying does he need to change the fan switch to suit the new thermostat temperature and what temp does the fan come on on a 182. At least thats what I got.

    Erratic idle after remap

As above, as standard my car idles at around 1250rpm when cold, then after a couple of mines its down to just under 1000rpm. This is to warm the car up quicker, and all its doing now is idling slightly higher for the first few minutes to warm it up faster. I quite like it to be honest.

    Erratic idle after remap

No the remap was definitely worthwhile, after fitting a de cat exhaust and ITG my car had massive flatspots and lost power. My car made 178hp before mapping and 190hp after, flatspots were smoothed out and low down power and torque was improved. I've also noticed my MPG has risen since, probably...

    Subframe Rot

Mine has a small amount of rust on the lip but nothing major. Its because the lip is made of 2 sandwiched panels by the looks of it probably spot welded together and moistures got in between the 2. Wouldn't take a lot of effort to give this a quick rub down / paint and seam sealer to slow this...

    Erratic idle after remap

Yep same for me after remap. Idle varies between 1200-2000rpm when cold, but as above its normal after 2 mins. Doesn't bother me - Warms the car up quicker.

    HID with no washer jets

You could probably spend £20 on a washer pump and a couple of jets and just plumb something in temporarily on a push switch for the MOT. I'm sure they'll be a way round it.

    Had my 197 remapped!

Well, had my car remapped at RS Tuning today after sorting out the group buy on the remaps. Think i've been the first down there out of all of us so far. Had the car serviced and the newly developed 197 cat back system from Scorpion fitted too. The new system for the 197 is the same as the 200...

    Matched inlets for 197..

A device which speeds up throttle response. Makes a good difference on these cars apparently, but won't do anything to improve power.
