Nope, the head unit will send a full signal, the std component speakers in the front will have their own crossovers. Bass will be fine if using an active sub as most have hi level inputs which is what you need to power one from std headunit unless it has pre outs which I.doubt.

Crossovers will filter out the frequencies you dont want going thru the sub. Sweet :)

You could buy an active sub and power it from the rear speaker outs.
