New amp constantly on (won't turn off)

It gets worse... I've just had another go and removed the pin that the blue wires connect to on the harness. After doing this and plugging it to the car, the amp didn't turn on at all. I guess that was to be expected. I then measured the voltage on the green wire on the car harness (which the...

New amp constantly on (won't turn off)

It wouldn't do anything, as the harness that connects the car wiring to the amp also has one connector coming out of it (best I can explain, see attached), and there are two blue wires on a single one of the pins. One goes to the amp, one goes to the Remote wire on the Head Unit. If the car is...

New amp constantly on (won't turn off)

I haven’t rectified everything you said, just yet, however, correct me if I’m wrong, but the blue and white wire on the Head unit should read: 0V when the Head Unit is OFF? 12V when the Head Unit is ON? If so, this is probably where my issue is. It reads 8.35V whether the Head Unit is ON or OFF.

New amp constantly on (won't turn off)

I really appreciate the help. At the moment, I'm only powering the amp by connecting the power harness to the car, which also connects to the head unit (see attached photo and file name). The amp should have the basic functionality of turning on and off with the ignition with only this harness...

New amp constantly on (won't turn off)

Hi all, I've recently bought an amp (Pioneer GM-D1004) for my 197. It's supposed to be a straight forward install, but I'm running into an issue where the amp is constantly on when plugged into the car harness, and won't go off when the ignition is off and the car locked, even. It's also...

Rattle/knock when starting engine and using accelerator

After a 1-hour diagnostic at £85, I'd rather get back to them and hope they're willing to have another look for me. If a Powerflex bush doesn't fix it and they can't find the issue, then, maybe...

Rattle/knock when starting engine and using accelerator

My Powerflex bush should arrive over the next couple of days. Lets see how it does after installing. I'd be really happy with a sub £40 fix.

Rattle/knock when starting engine and using accelerator

I've had this thought, but I don't think I've recorded that yet. Will do it later if the weather allows.

Rattle/knock when starting engine and using accelerator

I had the upper engine mount out recently while I did my belts, and it seemed just fine, to be honest. It's a fair assumption that the engine mounts are bad, with a description of the problem, but from looking at the mounts and testing them by rocking the engine back and forth...it seems...

Rattle/knock when starting engine and using accelerator

I could be wrong, but I reckon it won't be anything suspension, steering or engine mounts, as I've gone over a lot of these components. But what?...This is the tricky part. I've been living with it for months, now, and never managed to find the source of the problem. I went home, earlier, and...

Rattle/knock when starting engine and using accelerator

Hi all, My 197 (60K miles) has had an issue for a while that I've been trying to figure out for a while. I've made a post a while back, but it hasn't had any activity, so I'll try again and provide more details that I now know. When starting the engine, there is a slight momentary knock or...

    Help timing camshafts

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone that helped. I got it all sorted in the end. It was quite the "trial and error" process, but I got it timed, and now everything is back together. I was quite nervous to push the "Start" button, but it's running great. A massive win in my book, as I saved a...

    Help timing camshafts

That's what I've been doing. My problem is that the inlet cam always over-rotates ever so slightly after tightening the pulleys to 30Nm and removing the horseshoe. This is what I'm struggling to counter.

    Help timing camshafts

Thanks for this. I did watch this video a few times, as per your suggestion on my previous post on how to actually change the timing belt, a few months ago. It really is a good video, and I followed it in conjunction with the manual. I thought that might be where I'm going wrong, but I'm not...

    Help timing camshafts

That’s the guide I’ve been following. Unfortunately, I’m not sure if putting the car on a trailer is an option right now. The timing, while not 100% bang on, it’s not off enough to cause any damage. It was much worse on the old belt. The inlet cam was off by a few degrees and there was no...

    Help timing camshafts

Not the full PDF, but the bit regarding changing the timing belt. According to it, the cams are the right way up, with the small D (HA!) on the bottom. Also just like in this video. With the crank pin fitted in, I doubt you'd be able to have them the wrong way up, as surely the valves would...

    Help timing camshafts

By pins, you mean pulleys? This is what I've been doing over and over until I get it right, except I never got it right.

    Help timing camshafts

Hi all, A few days ago, I started changing my timing belt. I have a set of genuine locking tools with the "Horseshoe", pulley locking tool, and crank locking pin. I figured it would be the "not easy, but doable" type of job, but I'm quickly reaching the conclusion that I might be out of my...

Clunk/Knock/Rattle issues with accelerator when cold

Hi all, My 197 has a clunk/rattle/knock when the engine is cold and I very lightly (and only at idle) press the accelerator, while stopped. When the engine is hot, it doesn't happen. See video: So far, the following was checked: Upper engine mount (tried to rock the engine back and forth...
