These cars are really scarce in South Africa and you will be super happy to see one , unfortunately 95% of these cars are abused and not well taken care of ... the 225 engine is hard to come by , to be honest all Renault sport parts are really hard to find here in sa and the Renault dealership...

I would love to but the megane 275rs engine is like R40 000 here in sa which is a lot of money and you can get a good condition 197 for around R65 000 ... I just need to get a block but unsure if the standard gearbox is going to work on that block ... I don’t want to spend more money as I spent...

Howdy guys I recently rebuilt my engine, however I noticed there has been some damage done to my cylinder sleeve on cylinder 4 of my R27 Clio 197 ... my question is ... will a megane 275rs engine block work with my standard gearbox off the Clio? I know I have to blank out the turbo oil drain...

Good morning guys ... turned out my cylinder 4 piston was stuffed , the middle compression ring was broken and fell out into pieces when I took off that piston... the piston also touch the side of the sleeve rendering it useless... so I put in new valve stem seals ,replaced 2 exhaust valves that...

I know it’s the synchro ring that’s damaged on this car as I was a motor technician before I got into the industry I am in now ... I did change the gearbox oil and it seemed to have made a tiny difference at a lower rpm around 2000rpm it doesn’t grind, however under pressure it does hence I say...

Oh yes @Jack_R27 i know the guy has a polo Tdi and he has the blue 197 ... I watched his videos on YouTube ... he is a leka cool guy... I do believe there was a Renault club in Durban and it had disappeared... I’m also part of the Seat Sport KZN group and we also had a booming car scene ...

I am currently rebuilding my car engine ... cylinder 4 was oiling up the spark plug and causing the car to smoke when the engine warmed up ... I pulled of the cylinder head and noticed the engine was repaired before ... the oil was also seeping out the head gasket in cylinder 4 side ... I think...

Hi there @Onrus could you perhaps find out what are the numbers on the black car and the blue car? I found 7 cars including mine but 1 of the cars are currently broken and I’d say dead ,so I’m still hunting for the remaining 20 R27 Clio’s ... I saw the RB7 but it’s not the same as the R27.

We must certainly get the Renault sport scene alive here ... my cell number is 0834426483 pop me a WhatsApp and we can certainly meet , I have seen one for sale in yellow in cape town .... I haven’t seen any in black other than mine , however I did find many in red.

So a little update ... I noticed my car is seeping oil through the head gasket where number 1 cylinder (next to the gearbox) and number 4 cylinder(next to the cambelt) on number 1 the seep is on the intake side and number 4 is on the exhaust side... it’s not dripping it’s a slight seep of oil as...

Strange thing is it behaves like it’s over filled but i am only having an issue with the number 4 cylinder (closest to the cambelt) the plug is oiling up and the piston seems to be wet with oil on the top
