Oil leak at the front of the engine

You learn something new everyday! I've bought a new inlet manifold gasket so I can take the upper manifold off and clean everything up. Hopefully it's just weeping from a couple of the bolts in which case I'll put a dab on silicone under the heads and retorque which seems to be the common 'fix'...

Oil leak at the front of the engine

The cam covers hold the cams in place on the F4R so you need to lock the cam timing in order to remove the cover and replace the gasket AFAIK.

Oil leak at the front of the engine

Evening all, I've had my 197 just under 3 years now and it's always had a minor oil leak somewhere under the bonnet but I just kept the oil topped up and never investigated deep enough to find the cause. Now the weather is nicer it's maintenance time so I thought I'd ask on here to see if...

    Battery Relocation

A couple reasons for wanting to keep the standard battery, mainly A, the cost of replacing it with a PC680 or similiar (£100+) and B, it's my daily and I'm not sure how the lightweight battery would cope with cold starts at 5/6am in winter. That mounting solution under the seat looks very neat...

    Battery Relocation

Hi all, After missing out on a carbon R3 airbox on FB the other week I managed to pick myself up a V6 airbox for a decent price over the weekend, but now comes the difficulty in making it fit. I've ordered the mounting plate from No7 Motorsport and the link pipe from R Sport but the battery...

Front Shock Bump stop/boot and Shock Nut

Evening all, The latest shipment of Cooksport springs finally landed in the UK so I managed to pick up my set from KTEC to go with the new cup shocks I've had since November. I was planning on building up the new struts before tearing the car apart to make life easier but forgot about the bump...

Removing White Marks from Splitter and Plastics

Cheers for the replies, I use Fast Glass for the windows anyway so I'll give it a try and see if it gets the residue of the rubber and vinyl treatment off. I'll grab a bottle of C4 to apply to the trims ready for when it's a bit warmer, probably best to not apply that stuff in this weather...

Removing White Marks from Splitter and Plastics

Hi guys, When I last washed my car (admittedly it was months ago), I put some Autoglym Vinyl and Rubber care stuff on the RS Splitter and Skirts, A/B Trims and plastic door handles (poverty cup spec), thinking the rubberised finish on the RS Kit would take to the Autoglym stuff and turn from a...

    Cooksport vs Grams Lowering Springs

Nothing from me, I haven't made a decision yet. I got the new shocks from RPD with the Black Friday discount and was hoping either Cooksport or Kam Racing would do a discount on their springs like the year before but no luck. I'm not fitting the new stuff until the spring (pardon the pun) when...

    Cooksport vs Grams Lowering Springs

You've confirmed what I suspected to be honest. I think I'll just end up grabbing a set of whichever I can find cheaper when it's closer to the time I'll be fitting the new shocks. Cheers

    Projector/Reflector Headlight Questions

Sorry I completely forgot to reply to this, I got distracted by the headlight listings clearly. Thanks for the links, I ordered a single light off another breaker on eBay that was listed as 'A+ Good Condition', only for it to turn up quite frankly FUBAR, I suspect they were using a generic...

    Cooksport vs Grams Lowering Springs

Hi guys, I've just ordered a full set of new cup shocks (and top mounts) to go on my 197 and fancy a set of lowering springs to put on at the same time. The two brands of springs I see being thrown around the most are Cooksport and Grams, but that leaves me with the question - which is better...

    Projector/Reflector Headlight Questions

Yeah I've been scouring eBay daily trying to find a set recently, it's just trying to find a set that haven't got ruined lenses which is easier said than done when you're dealing with 15ish year old headlights. I went to my local scrapyard/used parts place today to grab a pair of facelift rear...

    Projector/Reflector Headlight Questions

Update for anyone who might find it useful: Phoned the local dealer again today and gave them the reg from @RSRowe and as expected, new lights are not cheap... £213 + VAT each in fact To be fair, compared to modern lights that's an absolute bargain but spending over £500 on a pair of...
