Thanks for the reply, the air con is off when the fan comes on. Is there a fan switch which could be faulty maybe? Seems odd how it comes on so quickly even when not in traffic. I'll change the stat and see what happens! Cheers

Thanks for the replies. My temperature needle sits just over the second mark but does rise to the third and back down again during normal driving. I haven't driven the car a lot yet as I've not had it long. But it didn't seem right the fan coming on like it does so I'll have to look into this...

I've also had some spare time today to give the interior a bit of a clean, the seat belts were brown so gave them a clean and they've come up much better!

Little update, I've fitted the new tdc sensor which has sorted the starting issue.

The 197 isn't my daily, I've got a trafic van for work so the 197 will be used at weekends/evenings and hoping to get a few trips in to castle Combe! Decent spec then I bet it's good fun on the track! Is it the dephaser rattling is it?
