    Electrical problem 197

I think they are all the same on Clio 3 (anyone?), the engine bay fusebox is a plastic dud and does not surprise me that it is prone to failing.

    Wheel spacers thoughts

I have had my car aligned by one of the top alignment shops in The Netherlands. The man (50 years of racing experience) recommended me to get rid of the spacers, get some fresh tires (Michelin Sport 4) up front an make an appointment. He checked the suspension, the steering rack and looked at...

    Mechanical Issue

Then the gear was not selected or the clutch was slipping. No gear selection = cable issue Falling out of gear = synchro issue Slipping clutch = worn clutch plate or oil on flywheel/clutch plate

    High oil consumption

I have found the cause of the oil consumption which was getting crazy with 100ml / 100km. Which these amounts burning in the combustion chamber the car would smoke for sure. I checked PCV hoses, changed the valve, checked camshaft seals, valve cover gasket/bolts, intake for oil debry, spark...

Rear ended on highway - is this repairable, or a total loss?

100%, usually under the hood but I have not seen it. PS is your airbag light on? There is also a G sensor in the car which determines which airbags and belt tensioners must be activated, after a hit these need to be replaced. I also sent you a PB.

What not to do with a manual

Best tip ever is for free : When you want to put the gearbox in reverse, first put it in 1st and let the throttle come and move the car just an inch forward, come to full stop, put the car in reverse.

    Going From 200 to 197

If you have the money I would buy back the car and keep it for spare parts because you know what you have. It sucks to be rear ended, but for parting out it is best. What is the mileage on engine and box? Might be interested but since Brexit EU countries pay import on parts from UK it might not...

    Electrical problem 197

Check fuseboxes and ECU for water damage/intrusion. Had a similar thing, one of the fuseboxes was full of water. Also check the wiring coming directly from the alternator, bend the cable if it feels flexible. Had a Megane with the copper wire corroded from the inside!! Threw all kind of weird...

    Issues

I would check lambda's, mine was running way too rich in closed loop, got them replaced and the car is much smoother and quicker on the throttle. Two lambda's 100 Euros (BOSCH, 10 minutes work on a car lift. Fuel economy is around 1 litre/10 kilometers = 24mpg and 1 hour drives with half that...

How to unlock car with flat battery

I have that on the left hand drive drivers side, it has no cover..but the keyhole visible, but....... I have unlocked the car, a friend of mine came over who has opened the car using his "magic" with WD40 and "massaging" the lock. It was full of crapp, probably never used in 15 years time. he...

    Fresh start

Since you have found a stock car I suggest you keep it as original as possible, never throw away original parts, do upgrades that are not or hardly visible but improve the car, or just to replace the tired parts. Doing so keeping value high and get a reliable fun car. Cold air intake I really...

How to unlock car with flat battery

I can confirm this does not work, removed license plate light, 12V on blue wire, mass on the exhaust (checked with multimeter for mass connection). Tried both with CTEK charger and 12V booster pack. I think the body control module is in the way. Don't trust a regular 12V charger because I don't...

Intermittent engine shudder at idle and engine vibrations around 2300 rpm

Changed the O2 sensors this morning, which was actually pretty easy with a flat O2 sensor socket from Snap On. The O2 sensor were very blackened, I think the original ones, removed codes and test drove. The sputtering between 2000-3000rpm is gone and the engine is much much smoother at low rpms...
