Yeah the AUX belt that came off was absolutely hanging too. I have to admit I did find it strange that in my case the belt had been done 3 months before trade in...... Lesson well and truly learnt.

So under the bonnet you can just about see the cambelt at the top going round when idle. It was described to me that the noise was the cambelt 'slipping'. This was obviously confirmed when it was taken off and we saw the state of it. A perished cambelt won't sit properly. I don't have a...

Like everyone else I didn't win lol. I would rather not say as I am considering my options about taking it further. Probably not much hope! I don't have a picture at the minute.

So just to provide an update in case anyone was suffering the same problems........ So after getting the AUX belt changed the noise persisted, this was narrowed down to the cambelt area. Having looked at the Service History and seeing this had been changed 18 months ago I was fairly confident...

It's booked in for this morning to have the offending belt changed. Will let you know the outcome. Cheers chaps.

its on 80k. It's got full service history but it might be a good idea in the new year to get this sorted. Cheers guys. On on a brighter note I now have a straight through exhaust system....Wow what a noise! Just the right pitch when you give it some!

Thanks for all the replies guys. I visited Halfords and picked up some belt spray and that seemed to do the trick but it's good to know its not too bad on the wallet if it needs replaced! Thanks again

Thanks for the reply, So went out this morn and it's certainly coming from the belt on the drivers side with the pulleys? Noise disappears when you give it any revs. Only seems to happen on idle. Will belt spray help? Thanks again

Hi, Just a quick one. When I am stationary or going very slow (usually in a car park) the steering makes a bit of a 'rough' noise when steering is applied. Like something is very dry. Any Ideas? Thanks, Steve.
