    197: Vacuum leak - Help

Update: I replaced it yesterday, which was a ballache of a job and sadly it made no difference whatsoever... Car always had shocking MPG, though, so maybe that'll improve things slightly...

    One-touch windows not working

Will do, it's just I can't at the moment, as I'm still waiting for the speaker adapters to arrive, as I soldered the ones from the old speakers on, so a bit more work than a straight swap. It was purely to see if anyone had any input. At the moment, my driver's window has been working reliably...

    One-touch windows not working

Hi all, I have a bizarre issue where the windows on my 197 only open/close a bit at a time even if I hold the button. I've had this before once or twice and can reset it by closing the windows and holding the button for 10(?) seconds. This time, however, the issue is intermittent and resetting...

    197: Vacuum leak - Help

I plugged in an OBD reader and the voltages on both sensors check out, so I’m afraid it’s not that. The fact is, there is obviously a vacuum leak, as the brake booster doesn’t hold vacuum after a while, and a vacuum leak could cause a rough/lumpy idle. It’s my main candidate, at the moment.

    197: Vacuum leak - Help

Hi all, I recently made a post about my 197 having a rough idle. Stupidly, I never though about a vacuum leak, but it's looking like the most likely candidate, as I've noticed for a while now that the brake pedal is hard (not assisted) when I press it for the first time in the morning to start...

    Rough idle and one-time misfire

One of the coils is a bit brown from previous corrosion, but I can't see any corrosion on the coil or plug. Before the road trip, the car had a terrible misfire, and it turned out to be that the windscreen wiper hose had split and was dumping water into the spark plug wells. I cleaned it up as...

    Rough idle and one-time misfire

Apologies, I read the reply yesterday, but couldn't reply. Do you know if they can be tested with a multi-meter? If I remember correctly, they're not cheap, so I wouldn't want to buy one unless I really had to.

    Rough idle and one-time misfire

Hi all, My 197 has developed a rough idle. When idling, the car sorta shakes/vibrates a bit. It does seem to drive okay, with no issues, but the other day, I turned the car on after not driving it for only 3 days and it had a very obvious misfire and low on power. It did sort itself out after...

    Sagging driver's door

Hi all, My driver door sags when I open it, dropping down slightly, which makes it difficult to close. Is there a way to adjust it properly, rather than just jacking it up, essentially "forcing" it into alignment? Thanks in advance

    Bad brake booster?

Hi all, When starting my car in the morning, the brake pedal is hard before the engine has been turned on. This shouldn't be the case, as the pedal should remain soft for a couple of presses after the engine has been turned off. Almost like the brake booster has a vacuum leak, or something. Is...

Engine options for a Clio 197

So, I've only recently ventured myself looking at engine builds and how different characteristics affect torque vs power, so I do have a few questions: Will a standard 197 F4R take a supercharger well without affecting long term reliability too much? How exactly will the Engine dynamics 250...

Engine options for a Clio 197

Both of those have crossed my mind, but each have their disadvantages and might raise their own questions. For example: A Mégane conversion would be cheap and easy power and torque, but the engine wouldn't be as high revving (I like the high revs:tonguewink:) A K20 conversion would be far more...

Engine options for a Clio 197

Hi all, I am slowly reaching that point in ownership where I'd like to get a bit more power out of my car. I think these cars make decent power, but are really lacking in torque, which makes me question: With a new engine build, what are ways of increasing the torque curve, while keeping it...

    Bleeding ABS - HELP :')

Define "several times". I was home an hour ago and did the procedure at good 15 times per rear corner, and the brake pedal feel didn't change a bit :(
