    Rough idle and one-time misfire

One of the coils is a bit brown from previous corrosion, but I can't see any corrosion on the coil or plug. Before the road trip, the car had a terrible misfire, and it turned out to be that the windscreen wiper hose had split and was dumping water into the spark plug wells. I cleaned it up as...

    Rough idle and one-time misfire

Apologies, I read the reply yesterday, but couldn't reply. Do you know if they can be tested with a multi-meter? If I remember correctly, they're not cheap, so I wouldn't want to buy one unless I really had to.

    Rough idle and one-time misfire

Hi all, My 197 has developed a rough idle. When idling, the car sorta shakes/vibrates a bit. It does seem to drive okay, with no issues, but the other day, I turned the car on after not driving it for only 3 days and it had a very obvious misfire and low on power. It did sort itself out after...

    Sagging driver's door

Hi all, My driver door sags when I open it, dropping down slightly, which makes it difficult to close. Is there a way to adjust it properly, rather than just jacking it up, essentially "forcing" it into alignment? Thanks in advance

    Bad brake booster?

Hi all, When starting my car in the morning, the brake pedal is hard before the engine has been turned on. This shouldn't be the case, as the pedal should remain soft for a couple of presses after the engine has been turned off. Almost like the brake booster has a vacuum leak, or something. Is...

Engine options for a Clio 197

So, I've only recently ventured myself looking at engine builds and how different characteristics affect torque vs power, so I do have a few questions: Will a standard 197 F4R take a supercharger well without affecting long term reliability too much? How exactly will the Engine dynamics 250...

Engine options for a Clio 197

Both of those have crossed my mind, but each have their disadvantages and might raise their own questions. For example: A Mégane conversion would be cheap and easy power and torque, but the engine wouldn't be as high revving (I like the high revs:tonguewink:) A K20 conversion would be far more...

Engine options for a Clio 197

Hi all, I am slowly reaching that point in ownership where I'd like to get a bit more power out of my car. I think these cars make decent power, but are really lacking in torque, which makes me question: With a new engine build, what are ways of increasing the torque curve, while keeping it...

    Bleeding ABS - HELP :')

Define "several times". I was home an hour ago and did the procedure at good 15 times per rear corner, and the brake pedal feel didn't change a bit :(

    Bleeding ABS - HELP :')

I did notice the Rear Left Hand makes quite a bit of noise from the front of the car when ejecting fluid from the brake bleed valve. Probably has air in the ABS module, which lines up with my suspicions. When you say pump the brakes, do you mean leaving the pedal pressed or pressing it a few...

    Bleeding ABS - HELP :')

This is really helpful! Can I ask, however...what is the exact procedure? I've been trying to do the same job on a Twingo without any success for a while now. I'm going to say how I do it, and if you could tell me where I'm going wrong, I'd greatly appreciate it. Bleed all brakes as normal in...

    Bleeding ABS - HELP :')

Hi all, On the weekend, I fitted brand new rear calipers from TRW and bled all 4 brake calipers. After testing the car, I found that the brake pedal feel was a lot more mushy/spongy and braking performance wasn't as sharp as before. Just overall less responsive brakes. I bled them myself with...

Diagnosing an alternator - Battery not charging

Forgot to mention that. The belt is still there and has tension. And it spins :)

Diagnosing an alternator - Battery not charging

Hi all, I need help diagnosing a possible alternator issue. Yesterday, my car started misfiring, the engine light came on, and I got "Braking fault" and "Low battery" warnings on the dash. The engine then wouldn’t start—just clicking sounds that would turn the dash off and on repeatedly with...

How do I bleed the ABS with a CAN Clip?

Hi all, As the title says, how can I bleed the ABS with a CAN Clip? I have purchased a used one from a member off Facebook and got it to work with an old laptop I borrowed from work. It's currently running version 176 of Clip. I'm actually trying to bleed the ABS on a 2007 Twingo, but would...

    Clio 197 low on power

I can certainly do that. What voltage should I expect for a healthy sensor?

    Clio 197 low on power

Not a bad shout. I have noticed that it also sounds slightly different. It also pops slightly on gear changes, on occasion, especially when colder.

    Clio 197 low on power

I figured if it was low on compression, I'd see oil consumption. I haven't checked the plugs, but they are relatively "new". I changed them about 2k miles ago. I'd say it's the lower rev range, but even the higher range seems hesitant. I've not yet checked the coils, but will do later today...

    Clio 197 low on power

Hi all, All of a sudden, my 197 seems a bit low on power. Almost like it doesn't want to rev as quickly. The car is a late 2007 197 with 61k miles. Timing belt done 2k miles ago. I'll be changing the oil and filter next weekend, but they were both done just shy of 6 months ago. It does seem to...

New amp constantly on (won't turn off)

Thank you for this. It sounds like I'd have a lot of fun doing this, but all my budget allows (for now), is to use what I already have, as I still need to buy new component speakers for the front (open to suggestions, by the way). Not to mention that the sound quality difference might not be...
