Shock absorbers - What to buy?

Funny to see that picture, since they claim to be resistant to corrosion! :tearsofjoy: As for the speed limit..coastal roads are a lovely drive with some (not many, sadly) twisty corners and very popular among petrol heads here. You don't have to go mega fast to have fun. Besides, I take the...

Shock absorbers - What to buy?

Might keep an eye out. Not sure the car will see a trackday anytime soon, sadly, so they'd probably be perfect for spirited drives :)

Shock absorbers - What to buy?

I'm in Guernsey, so my options are mega limited in terms of buying local. Only one local dealer and they're always more expensive than buying online, despite Guernsey being 0% VAT. I tend to find the cheapest for me has been RPD with VAT charged at 0%. To put things into perspective, I fitted...

Shock absorbers - What to buy?

Surely there's other aftermarket makers doing equivalents for cheaper. Renault don't make their shock absorbers in-house. Someone makes them for them and likely sell them for cheaper without the Renault branding. Take top mounts, for example...you can either buy them direct from Renault for £57...

Shock absorbers - What to buy?

Hi all, Any good (and cheaper) aftermarket alternatives to Clio 200 Cup shocks? Was thinking of fitting them to my 197 as an upgrade from standard shocks and springs, but they're £120 a corner, and I'd then need springs at about £80 each, so overall I'd be looking at around £800, which is more...

    Fitting a turbo engine - Clio 197

I'd like to go for reliability, ideally. Would that fit the bill? Where would I get a pipe that connects the exhaust to the turbo inlet and one that connects the intercooler to the turbo? Just trying to gather all the info I need before going balls deep

    Fitting a turbo engine - Clio 197

Hi all, After a bit of time searching for an engine, I have learned that someone local to me has one for sale. It's been rebuilt by the owner, who works for a trusted local garage, and was built from the ground up with a turbo in mind, so the pistons aren't as high of a compression as an NA...

    Track Rods or Steering Rack?

When you say "swivel joints", do you mean in the hub carriers? Please don't be my hub carriers...I really can't be fucked to change the ball joints

    Track Rods or Steering Rack?

My 197 has side-to-side play on the front passenger wheel. Took it to a garage not long ago to take a look at my engine and they also pointed out that the inner and outer track rods were shot on both sides and needed replacing. To be honest, I can only see play on one side of the car, but I...

    Random stutter/misfire

From CLiP: It's implying there's a ground short on the coils. "Circuit Open" in my experience means no contact, generally because something's unplugged. Any ideas here would be greatly appreciated

Difference of these ?? 543025293R / 8200926467 (front Cup dampers)

I enjoy a good spirited drive, to be honest. I do feel like the original shocks I have lack a bit. Too much body roll around corners, I find...

    Random stutter/misfire

Mine was done with throttle wide open, too. I measured 120 dry and 180-ish wet. Garage measured 140 dry and 220 wet, apparently... Don't know how they performed the test, but I'd assume they'd know better and did it with the throttle open.

    Random stutter/misfire

The piston rings are worn, according to the dry vs wet numbers. But I don't think this stutter or misfire will be related to the low compression, as the engine is still getting very regular oil changes every 6 months and should still have more life left in it, just a bit down on power is all...

    Random stutter/misfire

My (just under) 80K-mile Clio 197, the gift that keeps on giving... Two weeks before a road trip, the car has developed a bit of a stutter (maybe misfire)... Engine is on low compression across all 4 cylinders, 120 PSI each. Feels low on power, but has run smooth so far. I did have a lot of...

Before you fitted them, did you have non-cup shocks? If so, was it a worthwhile upgrade?

Upgrade from standard seats to Recaros

Hi all, I'm swapping my old standard seats to blue dot Recaros. I understand they're a straight swap, fitment-wise, but will the plugs underneath be the same and what exactly will I need to code out with CLiP? Thanks in advance :)

    OEM vs YellowStuff pads

I'm going to bleed them on the weekend, as I'll be driving this car from Guernsey (Channel Islands) to Nottingham. That way, the old fluid gets flushed out and replaced with new one as well. When you say "bled through properly", what exactly do you mean? Just wondering if I've missed...

    OEM vs YellowStuff pads

Out of curiosity, why are YellowStuff pads so bad that I should stay away from them? - Not trying to be snarky, just a genuine question As for the DS1.11...they're sadly not within my budget. They're roughly 2.5 times more expensive than YellowStuff, which is quite a bit. I mean...are they...

    OEM vs YellowStuff pads

Thanks for your input, really appreciated! See...I can absolutely bottom out my brake pedal without too much force and I'm just a regular dude, not a body builder with huge legs. I've bled the brakes several times before in this car and even attempted to bleed the ABS pump with my CLiP, but...
