Aussies/Kiwis in the UK for Clio export to Aus

A long shot... but gotta ask...

Would there be any Aussies or Kiwis, currently ensconced in the UK, who would be willing to help export a Clio from the UK to Aus?
It would need to be under the "personal import" scheme, meaning the car would need to stay in the UK for 12 months first.

Again, I know it's a stretch. But, thanks to 2020, a lot of people stuck/staying longer anyway.

It’s a bit naughty. But couldn’t you just date a bill of sale to say you’ve owned it for 12 months over here?
Or have you physically got to be living over here?

Unfortunately, you need to be able to show that it's been registered in your name for 12 month or more, while physically in the UK... and to check you've physically been in the UK, they require copies of your passport entry/exit stamps.

Just to make it "challenging"

Wow. What a pain!
How do the MCM boys get round it? Bringing older cars in?

I think they have a company import it for them, and even then I think there's some kind of list of which cars you can import.

A guy on here imported a Clio cup championship car why not make contact with him. Is japan not an easier option for import as the traffic seems to head your way and they are right hand drive.

Definitely a pain, if it's the "personal import" route.
Yep, there are a few different import rule options, depending on the situation (e.g. older vehicles, "special" vehicles, track-only vehicles). Unfortunately, none of which will help me for this one.

Whether it's coming from Japan or the UK, doesn't make any difference to the import restrictions... and the particular car I'm after is in the UK

You can ask @roblee8g for advice. He's the one who imported the Cup racer from the UK. You can find him here or over at ozrenaultsport in case you want to contact him.

Also you could speak to Gambit who imported a 182 Trophy into Australia
