Other "hobbies"................?

Thanks,

Air rifle (Air Arms TX200 springer) Just target shooting, really enjoy it, but just haven't had the time recently, i don't have it in me to mercilessly kill animals for sport, keep meaning to send off for a shotgun licence as thats something id like to get into aswell

Shoot yourself ?

Im no big shooter no - but i can see the attraction  I had an airgun for years when i was a kid and we had some land. I've also shot various handguns, 303 rifles and more modern 7.62mm stuff at a few ranges near me with my boss which was pretty awesome from like 800m away !

My Dad used to do a bit of Clay Pigeon shooting. I went with him a few times and always loved it. I thought about getting a license a few years ago but never applied in the end. MUST DO THAT !!!!!

In my job, no.

This would be more for the app developers than myself who build the outward facing sites for users to interact with (still internal users only , who are unlikely to have a clue on where to start with this).

In my day job i work inside a datawarehouse which is behind a few layers of protection and is an aggregated view of all the data we collect in a relatively sterile state and would never be exposed externally so in that sense, no.

However for anyone building websites that are hooked up to a database it is relatively simple to carry out an injection if they dont set up the outward facing site correctly.
Interesting stuff though, done plenty of reading / testing on it myself.

What do you do @DS197

Ah ok I see. It's interesting talking to people in the industry as you can only learn so much through lectures etc. I've just finished my second year at university studying computer security and forensics. Anything to do with IT security and digital forensics I really enjoy hence the question. I had also learnt about SQL injections a few months back and used malicious SQL statements against the Hacme Bank which was great fun. Also quite sobering how easily an attack can be carried out.

You can test my website for me! I was only thinking about this the other day.

Interested?

Haha thanks for the offer but I don't think i'm ready for that kind of responsibilty yet . I would have said yes if I had graduated this year though! But i'm more than happy to discuss the security risks/threats if you'd like. If you're hosting it on your own server, please do make sure it's configured properly. I found the login details for various social network accounts and payroll account for a hotel based on a island that charges £1000 a night. Just goes to show you that a person can be more of a danger to themselves than an outsider.

Seems to be a lot of cyclists and photographers. I love both myself, and I found hot hatches weirdly practical for these activities. When I go looking for trails or birds (the flying kind) or landscapes I tend to find myself on awesome country roads.

Are there enough photographers on here for an off topic no cars photo thread?

That golf ball collection is awesome mate , I play off 4 atm , absolutely love golf. Found a few ping different colour balls before they look great.

I was pretty disappointed not to win one of the rarer Ping golf-balls i don't have a few weeks ago with my 'last second' bid.

But did recently have a package from my dealer in the USA; and the collection continues to grow:

So what else do any of you folks get upto when your not messing with Clio's ?

Wow, looking at the final price of that Ping ball, that is serious money for a golf ball! However I do appreciate that certain things are worth this money for a reason.

It's not so much a hobby, but I have a small collection of books (coffee table-type big ones) of concept artwork/photos for movies and computer games. A couple of them are quite rare/foreign language. Took a bit of tracking down in a couple of cases!

The concept artwork sounds very interesting Jimmy. And like my collecting hobby - the chase is half the fun in some cases hey...

And yes - like anything in life: the rarer examples are usually more desirable and therefore attain more dollar !

Yeah, I suppose it is mega nerdy and a bit 'niche', but then a lot of hobbies/collections are!

An item might be very expensive to one man, but an absolute bargain and worth every penny to the collector!
