Matched Inlets & Polished Throttle body

Even the whole hog is not worth it. I had a spare one port matched, very little difference to the one than came off. Tbh a few casting marks to take out but the manifold halfs already mate well.

Would only find gains if you were doing this with sizeable porting work to the plenum and runners and then matching to the inlet ports of the head, but that's a different ball game to 'matched inlets' as it means taking the head off (despite the fact Raptor ported his head attached to the car lmao! ).

The very early mk2 manifolds apparently had very poor casting tolerances which is why people used to do it on those and it just became a kind of defacto mod for Clio's.

For the price of a gasket (the one between the 2 manifold halfs) you could easily whip your manifold top piece off just to ascertain the matching and finishing - I can pretty much guarantee though it'll be fine.
Ported TB's are a waste for sure, I've not touched mine and I'm making somewhere between 215-220 on it (not checked since new exhaust) - I'm getting my standalone now end of Oct (need to pay for it next week ) so potentially more to see but again I still won't be touching the TB.

To be fair I was offered them both for £90 that's why I thought I'd asked the question as I personally thought it was cheap, just wanted to see what is was all about really! Glad you've clued me up though, do appreciate it mate. [emoji106]

I also had the inlets matched....made absolutely no difference at all, other than it made my engine bay look better as I had it powder coated gloss black. Save your time and money....don't bother doing it buddy [emoji106]

I would recommend the port matching. Made a difference on my car.






Porting the TB I would not. Didn't see much improvement.

However, in the long run - every bit counts.

You'll get that sort variance between runs, let alone between different days with the car being strapped down under slightly different tensions each time.

You'd need to RR it at least 4 times, then do a straight swap to a ported inlet and run it 4 times to have a chance of quantifying anything with such small gains. Also, yours was opened out a lot more than just port matching, didn't you have the lower runners opened out to suit your original ported head?
