MTEC Breaks- anyone use them?

Surely as soon as the pads grind the discs they won't be black anymore anyway?

Hey man, I've not used them myself however.

Remember the black surface will wear off after braking a few times and become silver like they were originally before they were treated.

Having them black is really useful, as wherever the pad doesn't contact will stay black and not start surface discolouration, and wont look rusty

Yeah I have the dimpled and grooved black edition on the front of my 197, fine on std pads but going to change to ds2500 soon as I get fade when pushing on

Don't want to hijack the thread, but do you have a picture of them on your car? I'd quite like to see what they look like on

thanks for the response everyone, would also be good to have a picture.
so the feedback is that these discs are ok, dont fancy spending £200 on the name brembo if i can get the same for £90?

Exactly, could buy some decent pads and replace the set twice compared to the Renault Brembo set. May not be suitable for tracking it but for everyday use I can't see an issue?
Might try Nextdaybrakes and see what they come up with.

I bought from there before, discs were fantastic, don't get the pads though :$ They where ****.
Try ringing Renault or find out what the Brembo part number is for the OEM discs.

I've just tried doing some quick searching and these are the OEM discs Renault use. Theres an old post where Karl can get them at like £118 LINK: http://www.clio197.net/forum/archive/index.php/t-19707.html

I'll be buying these and getting them Zinc & Blacked for a favour through work. ^_^

This ones a bit better, gives you part numbers for both pads and discs and a bit of discussion.

yes indeed, the black remains on the area not swept by the pads including the bottom of the grooves, works well

I've just taken the plunge on a set of drilled and grooved, black coated ones. I'll keep the thread updated on how I get on (delivery time, product, etc.) I'll try and snap some pics of them too.

They do them in drilled and grooved, drilled, grooved and drilled, grooved and dimpled, and you can coat them in Gold, Black or Silver. I spent ages deliberating what to go for . I've gone for OEM Brembo front pads from NextDayBrakes as I know and trust them and it'll give me a good comparison between these discs and the OEM Brembo HC ones I'm running now. I would have liked to have gone for a more sporty pad, but with the Mrs driving the car for 60%+ percent of the time as her daily, I didn't want anything with crap cold bite that squeeled too much.
