Why is there a sound limit on tracks?

Yes.

Noise has all but killed one of Northern Irelands circuits (Nutts Corner in Co Antrim). Having said that I live around 7 miles from N.Ireland's biggest track and on calm days I can hear car and bikes depending on what's running.

It sucks, but my car is quiet as a mouse lol. Well not quite!

Fear not you can be as noisy as you wish on the road, anyone fancy a weekend blast around the outskirts of brands hatch lol? I'm thinking of running my car off the manifold
