197: What problems do people get??

Just a quick general one,
What problems do people get? Any little nags or things that keep popping up. Anything to keep my eye open for

Would be much appreciated

Tom

My cheeks ache after prolonged driving on B-Roads.

In all seriousness, apart from the odd characteristic of the car pulling ever so slightly to the left (99.9% of them do it), and the reluctance to engage a gear first thing in the morning I can't think of anything else. As soon as the 'box is warm it's all good and if you don't stick to perfectly straight roads then you'll barely notice the pulling to the left thing. Oh, the steering wheels like to ''melt'' too, bit annoying but it's not bothered me too much to be honest...

The positives far far FAR outweigh the few negatives.

Tbh for the type of car, their age, being French etc. they are well made, don't have common issues that are severe as Willis said, a few little things. Only other I would mention is the Recaros wearing.

Ball joints they r bad for that as I am currently finding out after parting with nearly 800 notes on the offside alone

very minor but annoying, the glove box lids sags towards the drivers side, and kangerooing on a morning will also get on yr nerves but can be sorted with a remap, brakes seem to seize easily and need a yearly ish service for best performance

Handbrake freezing was a common one over winter.

That's it so far - as mentioned - all cars have their common faults.

Exhaust manifold flexi bits fall apart, bumper doesn't fit flush to wing anymore, EVERYTHING rattles

My handbrake never recovered from the winter, still sticks partly on every now and then.

Yeah you got a point with every car has their fault! all of the ones you have mentioned are what I'm experiencing now! Apart from the fuel stops
All seems positive.

Thanks for the comments, much appreciated

I have a couple of knocking noises that neither i or a Renault specialist can find, 1 when letting off throttle and 1 when dropping off speed humps.

Also my clutch pedal is a bag of sh*t, it knocks left and right while my foot is resting on it, seems the whole pedal assembly and mounting bracket are made from bits of tin foil.

The handbrake can stick on quite badly as I found out over the weekend when I ripped up a part of the garage floor when trying to back the car out... ;/

Time for a strip and clean me thinks...

Mine seems like it has tons of little things that annoy me. Maybe its because my last two cars were and Audi S3 and a Mini Cooper S, maybe I'm just used to everything being 'just right'.
