Warning braided lines

Just a note for those of you that have fitted braided lines. I fitted mine a few weeks earlier and checked everything was clear and that nothing rubbed. I took my wheels off the other day to find that one of my brake lines had been rubbing on the rim of one of the wheels. What I have concluded is that the pipe is able to move in the plastic sheath under the clamp on the hub. This allows the line to rub on the inside of the wheel on full lock.

To fix this I have replicated the original setup by adding another clamp, there is now no way that the pipe can move now. The pipe now is clear of everything. Had I not checked this I could of had a serious problem.

If you have braided lines it will be worth having a look to see if you don't have a similar issue.

Posted a similar warning myself a good year or two maybe ago.


Should reuse the original bracket tbh but as long as you clamp it in two places like that its just as good.
 
This happened to my old 197 too, scary to think those who don't recheck could lose brake pressure possibly even on track!

secured with self tapping screw or nut and bolt?
 
I can't re-iterate how much better it is to just reuse the 'cradle' that is on the car from the factory, as you get the same result without having to tap any holes.

I re-used this bracket/cradle. Was a bit of a pain as I (well my mechanic) had to literally burn the old lines out of it but once they were out all went well. I have to say that it didnt once occur to either of us to try to re-fit the new lines in any other way.
