Under seat sub

Whats peoples opinion on these, and has anyone fitted one to thier clio?
I went down to a reputable car audio specialist in glasgow to see about these and the guys exact words were 'dont stock them, their crap'. He went on to say they are not bad installed in a wee two seater say a z4 or mx5, but in a hatch ie the clio, it will seem non existent. I explaned to him that I wasn't after mirror shattering bass and just wanted a nice sublte kick, but he assured me I would be wasting my dosh. Wonder if anyone has got one in their clio and what they think?

I've never owned or heard one but from a technical/acoustic/audio point of view they have all the qualities to make them terrible.

If you don't fancy sticking some ridiculous chav style box in the boot, they do a good job. There's a reason bmw stick them in the e90 3 series. I ran an alpine one in my 172, more than happy with it.

If your only after a nice rounded sound without the chav boom boom, then look for a good SQ sub around 10" in a sealed box. These are very small but will wipe the floor with a underseat. As the guy told you, they work well in a 2 seater where space is non existent. As ben said, a proper fitted box would look less 'thrown in'.

Nice one cheers for the info. Ill fit a new head unit and see how that is, then maybe upgrade to sub mentioned.
